The Medical Case Manager serves as the primary contact for employees and human resources to navigate short-term and long-term disability benefits, workers compensation, and other leave benefits. The Medical Case Manager will play a key role in ensuring that our employees receive timely, effective, and appropriate support to during their medical leave and through their return to work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Case Management Program Administration and Compliance

  • Collaborate with Human Resources, EH&S, and plant leadership teams to ensure that employees receive the appropriate support and benefits during short-term disability and workers' compensation leaves.
  • Evaluate the needs of employees on disability leave and develop individualized return-to-work plans, considering the employee's medical status, job requirements, and physical abilities.
  • Communicate regularly with employees on disability leave to assess their progress and provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Work closely with medical providers to understand the employee's medical condition and to ensure that the appropriate medical treatment and accommodations are in place.
  • Facilitate the coordination of modified duty and light duty assignments for employees who are unable to perform their regular job duties due to a disability.
  • Ensure that Owens Corning's disability policies and procedures are followed and that all disability cases are managed in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in case reviews and make recommendations for appropriate action, including the continuation or termination of disability benefits.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and documentation in accordance with Owens Corning's record-keeping policies.
  • Stay current with industry trends and developments in disability case management and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Legal as needed on FMLA, ADA, ERISA and termination issues.

Employee Education & Experience

  • Proficient in communicating with respect to wellness programming (Healthy Living, EAP, etc.) in addition to disability/LOA processes.
  • Delivery of training to various populations, including wellness champions, occupational health nurses, HR professionals, site leadership and employee groups.

Licensing, Credentialing and Development

  • Acquires and maintains knowledge of developments in the medical case management field. Keeps abreast of local laws and regulations, such as Worker's Compensation, as well as other issues effecting the rehabilitation field.
  • Obtains and maintains necessary continuing education credit hours and training as required by state and certifying agencies.
  • Participates in health conferences/meetings as needed for personal development and advancement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active licensure as a nurse or vocational rehabilitation counselor.
  • 5+ years of experience in disability case management, workers' compensation, and/or employee benefits.
  • Ability to travel 10-20%.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Working knowledge of Medicare, SSDI, rehabilitation, disability, medical and workers' compensation benefits.
  • Strong understanding of disability laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
  • Bi-lingual capability.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees, medical providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professional standards.
  • Ability to provide education and communication on employee benefit plans.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple cases and tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
  • This will be full-time remote/hybrid position but may require work across all US time zones.
