Examples of Duties

Duties Include:

  • Serves as liaison for Director of Toll Operations.
  • Assists Director of Toll Operations in administrative matters.
  • Assists Director of Toll Operations in developing policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates toll plaza operations with District Toll Supervisors including but not limited to staffing and employee relations.
  • Coordinates operational activities with other Commission departments.
  • Acts as the Commission representative in departmental Step 3 grievances.
  • Representative in Union Contract negotiations.
  • Responds to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Reviews and approves repair call outs for field toll equipment as requested by the Communications Center after normal business hours.
  • Acts as administrator of service contracts.
  • Responsible for overseeing inventory of toll plaza equipment and supplies.
  • Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Toll Operations.

Major Worker Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of public administration; supervision; employee training and development; dispute resolution.
  • Basic organization and operation of state and local government*.
  • Ohio Turnpike Commission policies and procedures*.
  • Labor relations; contract negotiation and contract administration.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Analyze and prepare or edit technical rules, procedures, policies and/or guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and concise reports and records.
  • Handle routine and or sensitive inquiries from and contacts with government and legislative officials, business representatives and/or general public; maintain strict confidentiality.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED with business background (e.g., college courses, seminars and/or business/management exposure).
  • Minimum of five (5) years supervisory/ management experience.
  • General knowledge of toll operations useful.
Supplemental Information

Unusual Working Conditions:
Must be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Must be able to meet the demands of an unpredictable field environment (e.g., responding to emergency situations; driving long distances; being able to lift or move at least 40 pounds; work varying schedules).
