Your challenges
  • Leads the supply chain including purchasing, planning, and raw materials warehouse teams in executing best performance practices to meet or exceed key metrics and KPIs.
  • Coordinates extensively and seamlessly with the other departments including Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality. Facilitates optimal inventory turnover by determining maximum and minimum inventory levels and reorder quantities.
  • Be the site liaison between Corporate and other global site Supply Chain leaders. Interact regularly to ensure synergies exist and flourish. Possess the tenacity to push back against and find successful resolution for policies and procedures that are burdensome to the Enfield location.
  • Directs and supports purchasing strategies.
  • Collaborates with Procurement department to determine best practices for freight in and freight consolidation. Works with the Procurement team to review contractual/supply chain documents for accuracy, performance risk, and compliance with contract terms, conditions, Cost or Pricing Data (COPD) and ensures suppliers meet the business objectives.
  • Assist the Procurement team on supplier negotiation strategies, cost savings measures, risk/opportunity profiles, strategic levers, and material release plans.
  • Directs the Planning and Scheduling of workflows across operations according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times. Analyze inventory levels for lead time reduction strategies and implement improvements to material flows and reduce cost of goods.
  • Formulates, provides, and executes on short, mid, and long-range supply chain and planning strategies.
  • Work, coach, and mentor the Material and Production Planners to create and execute on risk mitigation plans to ensure complete and on time delivery of our manufactured products.
  • Drive to ensure specifications are available, communicated to the suppliers, and that components are compliant with specifications, including specifications such as ISO 13485/9001 and cGMP. Product must arrive to inventory locations free of defects, damages, and contamination.
  • Leads and supports the maintenance of records and data essential to supply chain and planning programs.
  • Financial responsibility including forecasting, delivery and performance to budget aligned with business commitments to maximize the supply chain contribution to profit and loss (P&L).
  • Contribute and influence the senior leadership level of the Eppendorf's organization beyond Supply Chain.
  • Champion, train, and support continuous improvement and problem-solving fundamental programs including but not limited to Step (System Transformation Eppendorf program), Six Sigma, Shingo, etc. to drive the best-in-class quality and process efficiencies. Lead by example to drive formal root cause problem solving as a cultural mindset and not just a tool. Lead Kaizen events as needed.
  • Monitors production by comparing production schedule to the actual output. Prepare reports on production and downtime data.
  • Drives capacity management, by evaluating production capacity and resources, including equipment, labor, and materials, to ensure optimal utilization. Identifies the bottlenecks and constraints that may impact production output and collaborate with relevant departments to address them.
  • Plans for capacity expansion or reduction as per business requirements.
  • Implements inventory control measures to minimize excess or obsolete inventory and ensure adequate supply for uninterrupted production.
  • Leads, coaches, and mentors Supply Chain department personnel to include organizational and personal development, succession planning, interviewing, and any required employee discipline.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as determined by management.

Your expertise

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or Business Administration. In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to the candidate that has at least 10 years of proven progressive experience in the areas of Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, and/or Production Planning leading and working in a medium to large global manufacturing facility.

  • An MBA or MS degree is desired.

  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years' experience leading and working in Supply Chain, Operations, or Procurement leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing company with a global footprint.

  • Lean Six Sigma training is desired.

  • Successful ability to adapt and use different ERP systems.

  • Must possess the ability to formulate strong and practical short- and long-term strategies.

  • Strong leadership skills. Demonstrate and train the path and then let others take over to successfully execute.

  • A genuine belief in Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence. Lead by example to be a positive force in driving a CI mindset throughout the organization. A person that people want to listen to and follow.

  • A sharp eye for identifying weak points in processes and organizational structures while delivering practical solutions.

  • A strategic and analytical mindset. Strong statistical analysis capabilities.

  • An exceptional communicator that can capture the attention and positively influence all employees and personality types, at all levels of the organization.

  • Have the ability to work autonomously and successfully.

  • Ability to lead organizational change.
