Job Description
This position manages and directs the vehicle detailing operation, emphasizing the highest quality standards in preparing vehicles for sale, efficiency, and maximizing profitability for the Auction.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct activities of the detail shop employees to ensure vehicles are detailed to meet Manheim's quality and service standards.
  • Monitor work to ensure deadlines are met before sale day.
  • Supervise the proper staging, flow, and inspection of vehicles on the reconditioning lot and the proper processing of vehicles in preparation for sale.
  • Manage processes and work with production employees to ensure standard operating procedures are being followed.
  • Establish production goals for detail employees and determine workforce levels and schedules based on business volume.
  • Purchase equipment, materials, and supplies for the detail area oversee maintenance and protection of shop equipment and control the use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment by explaining, monitoring, and enforcing required Auction safety procedures and complying with OSHA requirements.
  • Communicate, discuss, and resolve detail shop goals, results, and problems with the Manager over Recon.
  • Work with the Manager over Recon to prepare the budget for the detailing functions.
  • Maintain and develop detail shop staff and their professional and technical knowledge by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and providing educational opportunities.
  • Counsel and discipline employees as necessary. Plan, monitor, and evaluate job performance and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Depending on the auction's size, may work with Fleet Lease and Factory Managers by communicating the reconditioning process to prospective customers and ensuring that all detail work meets established quality standards.
  • May work with the National Accounts Manager to communicate the detail process to prospective customers and ensure that all detail work meets established quality standards.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such work in cooperation with safety leadership to support all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
  • Effectively leads the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox/Manheim values, and ensuring all employees are treated respectfully.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
  • Partner with various market-level support teams (i.e., Finance, HR, MFS, Recon, Safety, Security, Sales) to ensure effective and efficient operational processes that align with company objectives and strategies and high-quality customer service and support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications:

  • Equivalent combination of education and work-related experience: High School Diploma and 14 years of relevant experience in the related field. ~OR~ Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of relevant experience in a related field and 1 year of experience in a leadership role ~OR~ Master's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience in the related field. ~OR~ o Ph.D. and 2 years of relevant experience in the related field.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in reconditioning or lot operations.
  • Experienced computer and AS400 skills are needed.
  • Excel knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience in the automobile or auction industry.
  • Effective communication and interaction skills.
  • Competent management and excellent organizational skills.
  • Understanding of a P&L
  • Fluent Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Valid driver's License and safe driving record.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb. Ability to lift 1-30 pounds (light hand tools, etc.) Manual dexterity, repetitive motion tasks.
  • The required vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment:

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts hazards, electrical shock hazards, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Moderate noise level.

SMCOX

USD 64,200.00 - 96,400.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $64,200.00 - $96,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
