Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Process Manager - Quality at our Steelton facility. As aProcess Manager, you can expect to see your work everywhere; the employees you work with every day help to make the steels that are used in building nations. Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.

  • Work safely and ensure plant safety policies are followed at all times.

  • Manage the mechanical test lab and/or chemical (spectrometer) lab with the responsibility and knowledge to back up each of them; Tasks include development and training on procedures and scheduling required equipment maintenance.

  • Supervise represented employees performing laboratory functions, including on-call support.

  • Manage test equipment calibrations.

  • Create new operating efficiencies to maintain the production, testing, and shipping of steel with a leaner workforce.

  • Support steelmaking operations, including development of metallurgical grade recipes, disposition of production, ordering required tests, etc.

  • Responsible for data-mining investigations with metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.

  • Assist in development and reporting of quality metrics throughout the plant.

  • Back up for the Quality Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, or Materialsfield.

  • 1-2 Years' of experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and team building skills.

  • Ability to lift more than 25 pounds on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years' experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.

  • Previous steel manufacturing experience.

  • Prior supervision of a unionized workforce.
