Job Description

Summary

  • Position Summary
    • The MMC Respiratory Therapy Apprentice is matriculated as a freshman in Southern Maine Community College's (SMCC) Associates Degree Program for Respiratory Therapy. The Apprentice must maintain passing grades and attendance requirements as required by SMCC. The apprentice will be an employee of the MMC Respiratory Therapy department and is responsible for performing multiple duties that require an expertise in the assembly, transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting of respiratory related equipment in addition to performing electrocardiograms. The Respiratory Therapy Apprentice works under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist. The Respiratory Therapy Apprentice is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment in the various respiratory work areas and assisting the Respiratory Therapists with various procedures and tasks, as directed.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
    • License/Certification: Holds and maintains credential in BLS.
    • Experience: N/A
    • Ability to demonstrate competency in performing electrocardiograms.
