Position Overview

The Project Engineer is the primary process support for maintenance and operation techs, as well as leads continuous improvement activities for the site through troubleshooting, process improvement initiatives and execution of capital projects. The Project Engineer has responsibility for the site's contractor management program. This position is responsible for providing overall leadership of the site's capital project programs and technical support for process optimization, operational reliability, product quality and EH&S performance

Job Responsibilities

Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Capital improvements through conception, preparation of formal requests for capital appropriations, installation, and startup.
  • Identify and implement projects to reduce production costs, energy usage and improve productivity.
  • Provide an efficient interface with engineering department to evaluate all upcoming capital projects. Analyze and obtain required feedback for all equipment and layouts.
  • Maintain and update site capital project budget.
  • Create, maintain, and update site facility drawings, equipment drawings and P&IDs.

Plant Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include facilities maintenance management, capital improvements, safety, and environmental functions.
  • Ensure that OSHA PSM practices such as PHA, MOC and PSSR are used at all phases of projects.
  • Provide an efficient interface with engineering department to evaluate all upcoming capital projects and analyze and obtain required feedback for all equipment and layouts.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to meet site operational goals and capacity creation.

Environmental, Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe work practices as specified in the Safety Manual and Management Standards are followed in the Engineering department.
  • Supervise, maintain, and improve the plant PM program to ensure compliance with all EH&S and PSM requirements.
  • Own and maintain responsibility for the site contractor management program: ensuring contractors meet the EH&S qualifications, effectively develop high risk work plans for high risk work and maintain safe work practices.
  • Own and maintain responsibility for key aspects of the environmental and safety annual and monthly management control checklists.
  • Lead and participate in safety incident investigations to provide solutions to prevent recurrence
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience as Plant Engineer, Project Engineer, or related duties in chemical or similar industries.
  • B.S. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Technical aptitude.
