Job Description

The Investment Accountant, working under moderate supervision, is involved in managing and maintaining financial records and reports related to investments made by an organization. This role is responsible for the investment accounting process, preparing and reviewing investment transactions, reconciling investment accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The role reviews and verifies all investment-related activity of all companies' investment portfolios by verifying and maintaining all purchase, sale, and income information, coordinating all investment data between computer systems, and providing reporting for management and external reporting requirements.


  • Executes on the investment accounting process, including maintaining financial records and reports related to investment transactions, reconciling investment accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Verifies and maintains all purchase, sale, and income information of companies' investment portfolios to ensure the integrity of the portfolio database.
  • Uses and manages the various investment systems and maintains, updates, and runs reports for management and external reporting requirements.
  • Reviews computed information to comply with various investment plan and formula calculations relating to investments.
  • Collaborates with other departments to provide financial data and analysis to support investment decisions and help the organization achieve its financial goals.
  • Verifies and maintains all purchase, sale, and income information of companies' investment portfolios to ensure the integrity of the portfolio database.
  • Manages and uses the specialized investment software employed to track investment details for alternative investments, using the equity accounting method. Assists with tracking specialized investment details as directed for situations such as "basket clause," and other-than-temporary-impairments.
  • Provides reporting for management and external reporting requirements, including financial statements and regulatory filings.
  • Identifies and implements opportunities for continuous improvement in the investment accounting process and financial reporting.
  • Devotes attention towards staying current in various accounting standards and participates by sharing knowledge at accounting updates.

  • 0-3 years of experience in Investment Accounting or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field and/or commensurate experience.
