Work Schedule | Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm, possibility for 4-10 hour work days with approval. Must be willing to work overtime and be on-call for service problems. |
Basic Function | This position performs work related to the repair, maintenance, service, installation, modification, troubleshooting, inspection, location and monitoring of a variety of electrical distribution systems and associated industrial electrical equipment including that of medium and high voltage systems (>600V - 12.47KV). |
Essential Job Functions | Repair, maintain and locate medium and high voltage primary distribution systems (both underground and overhead). Repair and maintain building electrical equipment and systems (<480V). Assist in repairing, operating and maintaining : HVAC systems, cooking equipment, fire alarm systems, elevators and fiber optic systems. Operate aerial access equipment including: bucket trucks, a variety of manlifts and ladders. Independently responsible for locating Denison owned underground electric and fiber utilties for OUPS 811 calls. Follow industry and University safety procedures and use/wear PPE in accordance with the job task being performed. Maintain a safe work environment for coworkers and the campus community. Maintain awareness of industry trends and stay current on government regulations and protocol. |
Minimum Qualifications | High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship plus minimum of five years experience in high (medium) voltage work. OSHA approved Arc Flash Electrical Safety Training. Minimum 5 years experience working with high voltage electric systems. Knowledge of the standard practices and the National Electrical Code for electrical installations. Proficient trouble-shooting skills with ability to read ladder diagrams and electrical schematics. |
Preferred Qualifications | Journeyman Electrician. 5 years experience terminating and splicing high (medium) voltage distribution conductors. |
Physical Demands | Repetitive hand motion, standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs/ladders, kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, reaching overhead, pulling, pushing and occasionally lifting over 50 pounds. |
