Job Description
Over the past 40 years SelectTech has built a solid reputation in the defense contracting space by adhering to three core values: Integrity, Customer Focus, and Technical Excellence.  SelectTech has experienced tremendous growth in its airworthy roll-on roll-off transportation systems and is seeking a Technical Buyer to join a mission focused team. The Technical Buyer will lead all purchasing activities to ensure that they are on time and within budgetary limitations.

This position does have the availability for a hybrid schedule. Will be required to work at least 3 days per week at SelectTech's Springfield facility, and may work remotely or out of our Corporate office in Centerville the remaining 2 days per week.

Essential Functions
  • Develop technical specifications in coordination with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality 
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers to meet business needs
  • Review purchase requests for accuracy, contractual, and regulatory compliance
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Conduct negotiations on price, technical requirements, and terms and conditions of orders to support business cash flow and program budgetary objectives. 
  • Prepare purchase orders and change orders
  • Maintain regulatory compliant purchasing files
  • Support internal and external purchasing system audits
  • Regularly update a purchasing integrated master schedule and ensure all purchases are on time and on budget to meet program objectives.
  • Track active procurements via ongoing communication with suppliers and manage the scheduling of deliveries to prevent excess stock or back orders
  • Communicate and support resolution of any delays or other supply chain disruptions with Production
  • Work closely with the Quality Manager on the vendor qualification process, corrective action on vendor quality issues, and supplier rating reviews

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics or other related field
  • 4 years procurement experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of the flow and management of custom manufactured parts and assemblies
  • Experience with an automated ERP system, Deltek© Costpoint® Experience preferred
  • Understanding of planning and scheduling
  • Ability to read and understand all work instructions and safety information
  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 certified operations and audits desired
  • Procurement experience in Government Contracting environment
  • Mechanical and electronics acumen
  • Must be able to qualify for a Secret Security Clearance
