Maintenance Electrician - US - Dayton, OH

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

Apex Tool Group is looking for an experience Maintenance Electrician to join our team in Dayton, OH. Reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager, this person will handle performing preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment and components.

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Capable of working under general supervision to maintain, Manufacturing and Facilities Equipment to achieve World Class Efficiency Targets.
  • Needs to be self-directed and professionally conduct themselves
  • Ensures a clean and safe working environment in all activities
  • Responsible for following and adhering to all applicable rules and procedures for health, safety, and Environmental standards for oneself and others (including but not limited to)
  • Proper locking out of equipment
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Machine guarding requirement
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Handling and proper disposal of oils, greases, and other Industrial Waste Materials
  • Other related National, State, and Local Government Rules and Regulations
  • Have good teambuilding abilities, with excellent verbal and written communication within all levels of the organization (Production Operator up to and including Plant Management). Additionally, where applicable, provide timely and detailed information to management on equipment status.
  • Ability to document equipment downtime root causes, along with details regarding corrective actions taken to resolve the problem.
  • Ability to use and document all activities in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Able to analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from all sources to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Willingness to work overtime daily and on weekends to maintain productivity on all plant equipment.
  • The ability to multi-task, with the ability to work a flexible schedule if needed.
  • Supporting plant systems to maintain parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level.
  • Identifying needed equipment, parts, and supplies
  • Requesting the placing and expediting orders for parts and materials relating to maintenance.
  • Verifying the receipt of incoming orders.
  • Able to use critical thinking and problem-solving to identify solutions or approaches to problems.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Electrician working in high-volume CNC Machine Tool Manufacturer

Must be able to read and understand job instructions:

  • Verbal instructions
  • Work Orders
  • Schematics
  • Machine manuals

Must have advanced computer skills:

  • PLC (ladder logic)
  • CNC controllers
  • Plant Floor Computer Networks
  • RTUs
  • Must have basic math skills:
    (Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide, Percentages & Simple Trig)

Must be familiar with complex electrical systems:

  • Diagnose and repair varied equipment and control devices:
  • Power Supplies
  • Relay Logic
  • Feedback Controls (4-20ma, Pulse Encoders, Tachometers, T/C's and RTD's)
  • Able to use required tools, along with the different types of measuring, and testing equipment to Troubleshoot the above list of equipment.
  • Detailed knowledge of applied electrical practices and theories.

Must have proven past electrical experience (Preferably Electrical Qualification Certificate) with:

  • Plant level Power Systems
  • 3 phase 480/240 VAC (both Delta & Wye)
  • Single phase 277/240/120 VAC
  • Busway & Panel Distribution Systems
  • Low Voltage DC Control System
  • Inverters and Frequency Controllers

Operate Equipment:

  • Licensed to operate Forklift.
  • Must be able to operate scissors lifts or other omnidirectional aerial lifts.

Physical:

  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Able to work at elevated heights.
  • Work off Ladders and Scaffolds
