Applied Research Solutions has an exciting opportunity for Information Systems Security Officer located at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. The F-15 Division is responsible for management and professional services, engineering and technical services, and studies, analyses and evaluations to accomplish the unit's mission to design, develop, integrate, test, produce, deploy, modernize, sustain and support U.S. and FMS F-15 fighter aircraft weapon systems and subsystems.

Responsibilities Include:

  • The Contractor shall ensure implementation of DoD, USAF and MAJCOM policies and develop local processes and procedures for the effective execution of the F-15 Division security program.
  • The Contractor shall provide direct support to assure compliance to current revisions of the security directives applicable to the AIS being supported. These include DIACAP, DoDI 8500.01, DoDI 8510.01, JSIG, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53.
  • The Contractor shall perform work in support of the technical implementation, maintenance and oversight of the following elements of the F-15 Division's AIS security program (certification, risk analysis, and operational support). The Contractor's work frequently involves very difficult problems requiring significant interpretation and modification of standards, which may not be directly applicable.
  • The Contractor shall review, analyze, and develop full information for AIS system descriptions involving the establishment of new automated systems.
  • The Contractor shall ascertain the appropriateness of description detail, identify potential or actual system vulnerabilities and recommend corrective action for higher authority approval/disapproval.
  • The Contractor shall provide in-depth technical analyses of AIS application and system software (including associated security related software) and equipment used by F-15 Division units for the purpose of evaluating their effectiveness at meeting defined security requirements.
  • The Contractor shall evaluate different versions of security software and determine if it is appropriate for the directorate automated systems. The Contractor shall administer security software installation accordingly.
  • The Contractor shall interview operational personnel and review documentation for the purpose of resolving technical security problems and issues, as a basis for drafting and recommending new policies, standards, procedures and operating doctrines.
  • The Contractor shall prepare system security plans for classified systems.
  • The Contractor shall access the Government-provided electronic messaging system on SIPRNET.
  • The Contractor shall monitor the organization's mailbox regularly to ensure messages requiring action are promptly acted upon.
  • The Contractor shall monitor information system activities to ensure SI, establish reaction and maintenance control for the facility, and perform system access or revocation tasks.
  • The Contractor shall report system security incidents, classified message incidents, vulnerabilities, and virus attacks according to applicable DoD guidance.
  • The Contractor shall ensure information systems are cleared or sanitized according to applicable DoD guidance.
  • The Contractor shall assist in improving internal management processes by proposing and/or implementing improvements to visual, computer-based communications to manage critical processes.
  • The Contractor shall conduct a self-inspection of the SAP AIS program on an annual basis, or as directed by the F-15 Division security office. The self-inspection will be conducted utilizing the current versions of the RMF, core-compliance inspection, and special-emphasis items checklists as issued by DoD or Special Access Program Central Office (SAF/AAZ).
  • The Contractor shall manage and account for COMSEC equipment. The Contractor shall receive, account for, page check, handle, use, and safeguard all COMSEC material until it is destroyed or returned to the COMSEC account. The Contractor shall maintain current OIs that cover handling, controlling, and protecting COMSEC assets, including inventory, two-person integrity (if applicable), destruction and COMSEC incident reporting.
  • The Contractor shall assist in ensuring physical security standards are maintained. The Contractor shall be required to work in a secure facility. The Contractor may be required to open, secure and perform end-of day security checks, and respond to F-15 Division alarms IAW USAF requirements, where applicable or where allowed.
  • The Contractor shall assist in the planning, formulating, editing, developing, publishing and distribution of finished products, e.g., program documentation, reports, briefings, and other presentations as required (technical and non-technical, classified, and unclassified) in the media and format requested.
  • The Contractor shall recommend course of action after evaluating issues as they arise and prepare correspondence, briefing materials, and other documentation in support of the security office. The Contractor shall provide technical guidance as received from the F-15
  • Division security office to Government and Contractor personnel in areas of planning, implementation, and report progress in implementation of such directions. The Contractor shall assist with conducting studies and analyses as directed by the F-15 Division security office.
  • The Contractor shall receive and store classified materials, as required, in direct support of the F-15 Division security office.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Technical experience required:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • The Contractor is required to possess and maintain, at a minimum, a Certified Information Systems Security Officer (CISSO), Security+ certification, and a minimum of a BS degree in a computer science or engineering discipline.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance Required
  • Has the knowledge, experience and demonstrated ability to perform tasks related to the technical/professional discipline they are performing.
  • Has the ability to work independently and apply the proper procedures and process related to their area of expertise.
  • Shall also have the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot various situations to develop successful outcomes within established program/project guidelines (Program Office and Staff Level Support interface).
  • In addition, a minimum of five (5) years of experience performing full time DoD security functions or a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline to include three (3) years of full time security functions.
  • The following certification may be used in conjunction with junior level education/experience requirements to meet the requirements of the journeyman level:
    • Defense Security Service (DSS) Security Fundamentals Professional Certification
