Job Description
Environmental Restoration, LLC is a provider of cost-effective hazardous waste material management and removal services. Our services include Emergency Response, Site Remediation, Environmental Construction, and Specialty Technical Services. Since 1997, we have been a remediation contractor for federal, state, local agencies, and private sector clients, providing services nationwide from our St. Louis corporate headquarters and from our 23 regional offices located across the United States.  We are seeking a talented individual to assist with our work on USEPA sites under one of eight Emergency and Rapid Response Services Contracts.

Job Requirements: 
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and physical exam.
  • Possess a clean driving record.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States (Verified through E-Verify).
  • Must be available for frequent travel.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment including a full-face respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).

Qualifications:
  • A BA or BS in Chemistry, Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or Industrial Hygiene
  • A minimum of 30 credit hours of chemistry courses from an accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years of field experience in oil, petroleum, and hazardous substance cleanup operation is preferred but not required. Individuals with less than three (3) years’ experience and recent graduates will be considered.        

The Field Chemist will conduct the following activities:
  • Inventory containers, maintain container and sample database.
  • Collect samples (e.g., air, soil, water, and waste).
  • Perform field chemistry tests (e.g. pH, presence of oxidizers, cyanide and sulfide compounds, flash point and/or flammability, and water solubility,) for the purpose of identifying hazardous characteristics of waste samples.
  • Prepare and oversee implementation of waste bulking, consolidation, and/or packaging plans.
  • Assist in Determining the appropriate type and quality of analyses to be performed to attain EPA's data quality objectives.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and use field screening devices/meters to conduct site surveys. Interpret data and evaluate hazards from field results.
  • Oversee the implementation of field sampling plans.
  • Develop treatability schemes for wastes. Shall be familiar with, and have experience in, utilizing on site treatment methods; such as, but not limited to, neutralization, precipitation, flocculation, oxidation, reduction, and dissolving of contaminants.
  • Keep a written log of activities on sampling and analytical results. Prepare written technical reports of sampling, survey, treatability, and analyses.
