What's the role?

The role of Head Spare Parts Supply & Transport is responsible for managing the spare parts supply for regions in North American and Latin-American markets end-to-end (E2E) transport to support best-in-class tool service. This position drives efficient operations from source to Tool Service Centers (TSC) taking transport, material-management, and warehouse costs into consideration, as well as optimizing costs related to spare parts material management & transportation; manages strategies within the Tool Service Centers and Spare Parts Warehouse including customer relations, information technology, quality and security. Additionally, this position is accountable for achieving company objectives, productivity standards, financial budgeting, and process development while supporting spare parts supply and driving customer satisfaction for marketing regions in Hilti North America.

What does the role involve?

  • Serve as a Regional Process Owner in defining policies and procedures for the department in how functions are to be performed in alignment with Global Processes. Maintain a continuous improvement mindset and make recommendations to senior management on programs to improve operations, including current technologies that may have applications within the supply chain process for spare parts.
  • Responsible for implementing target objectives from the global level to the regional level within multiple countries and the definition of the global spare parts roadmap, driving specific global projects.
  • Manage the flow of materials within the respective regions ensuring that there is an optimization of stock and service level at all locations in line with company objectives. Manage the spare parts supply chain process between Hilti Schaan (HAG) and Hilti North America (HNA) while also supporting Hilti Latin America (HLA) needs.
  • Implement tool service strategy as a change agent for the Regional Distribution Center (RDC) and support the Tool Service Center (TSC) internal logistic processes implementation.
  • Lead a cross-functional team.
  • Manage and integrate various stakeholders throughout the organization to direct supply chain objectives for the respective regions including shared responsibility for inventory level and obsolescence with direct responsibility for service level.
  • Oversee all distribution and transportation services on a tactical and operational level including receiving, storing, shipping, handling returned/ damaged goods, maintenance, and administrative activities to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Oversee and optimize the transportation network for existing and future routes including carrier negotiations for Hilti North America and Hilti Latin America Ownership of After Market Services (AMS) transport processes in collaboration with regional transport management to support the seamless customer experience for the entire supply regions. Use creativity and leadership skills to find solutions while developing, tracking, and executing detailed project plans for major initiatives (global and regional) to make sure they occur within a timeline.
  • Responsible for serving as the first tier (team) of escalation on Customer and Tool Service Center (TSC) complaints. Responsible for formalizing internal and external customer needs into strategies that specify how these needs will be met by the process. Responsible for preparation of Regional Distribution Center & Tool Service Center -stock based on Introduction of New Products (INP) modifications and phase-out tools based on input. Responsible for leading operational activities involving forecasting, purchasing, receiving, picking, packing, storing, shipping, replenishments, and returns.
  • Coordination of up to 50-80 new product introductions and phase-outs per year that consist of 500 to 1,500+ material items along with the daily consumed items of around 4,000+ materials within each of the 14 Tool Service Center locations.
  • Participate in the regional leadership meetings to align spare parts-related topics e.g. Introduction of New Products (INPs) actions from Tool Service Center (TSC) reviews, implementation of related processes/projects, and overstock back.
  • Utilize Shop floor management and Lean/Six Sigma practices to ensure that policies and procedures are implemented, and best practices are shared for continuous improvement and outstanding results.
  • Ensure current and accurate inventory control and spare parts bin management processes through leadership and relationships with the Tool Service Center Management team.
  • Coach, recruit, hire, and develop team members through the My Contribution and My Development processes. Accountable for the competence development of team members.
  • Contribute to improving global results and align with regional logistics and finance.
  • Accountable for preparing and delivering Repair Frequency (RF) based on capacity/capability needs.
  • Deliver sustainable productivity for Operational Expenses (OPEX) and replenishment freight costs at defined service levels.
  • Responsible for the definition and execution of contingency/crisis plans. Hire Materials and Warehouse managers in alignment with Strategic Account Management (SAM) and Tool Service Center (TSC) managers and develop into entrepreneurial business partners and inspiring leaders.
  • Establish strong collaboration across the global team and regional After Market Service leadership teams to build a community of high-performing global teams.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What you need is:

  • Bachelor's Degree required - MBA/master's desired.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish or Portuguese), required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of supply Chain Management, especially material management, experience required.
  • Operational leadership experience is required.
  • International work experience is required.
  • A strong understanding of repair processes and quality management is required.
  • Ability to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and define/implement sustainable solutions.
  • Proficient with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems including Distribution Requirements.
  • Planning/Manufacturing Resource Planning (DRP/MRP), Purchasing and Inventory modules.
  • Ability to multi-task, delegate duties, empower others, and analyze information to develop & implement effective strategies.
  • Manage multiple budgets and control costs in a dynamically changing environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to integrate Lean/Six Sigma best practices within operations.
  • Strong knowledge of PC and software applications is required. MS-Office, SAP-R3, APO, and BI.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time both domestically and internationally for periods sometimes longer than a week, required.
