GENERAL FUNCTION:

Join us for a Co-Op within Fifth Third's Enterprise Modernization organization! We lead the way as Fifth Third modernizes its technology stack to better serve our customers. We engineered the front-end and the back-end of the latest version of the mobile app using modern development methodologies and cloud solution architectures. We also recently re-launched "Jeanie", our customer-facing digital messaging platform with integrated artificial intelligence. We have a lot planned for 2024. The Early Career Co-Op provides support as directed through team assignments while receiving exposure to the broader organization. Co-Ops integrate into the organization through day-to-day agile activities and project work. Co-Ops operate as team members on larger initiatives, but also work independently on smaller projects and tasks.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

We are seeking rising juniors and seniors in computer science, engineering, or IT-related majors who are looking for an opportunity to apply their skills in a back-end focused or front-end focused full-time Co-Op experience. You'll join a full-stack team, train on our methodologies and technology stack and then own, develop and deploy assigned features alongside your team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform assignments and projects as determined by engineering and/or product leadership.
  • Participate in team and organizational agile ceremonies.
  • Utilize project management skills to manage and report on assignment and project status.
  • Effectively communicate with others, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established software engineering standards.
  • Complete assigned training and participate in self-learning.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Current enrollment (or recent completion) in accredited degreed program (Computer Science, Engineering or IT-related major preferred).
  • Strong academic record with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Relevant internships and/or co-op program experience preferred.
  • Experience with Java, Node.js, Angular, or Swift preferred.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the capacity to learn additional software applications as required by the assignment.
  • Capable of managing own time to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
