Job Purpose:

The position is responsible for coordination of tax related activities within the trust department, including but not limited to working with outside accounting firms, department tax reporting, and assisting with tax research. Position is also responsible for department reporting and review, including specialized fee research and review.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate and manage tax processes with all outside preparers and ensure timely submission of trust tax and informational returns.
  • Coordinate payment of all tax bills and estimates from client accounts as applicable.
  • Prepare and file information returns for retirement and IRA accounts as needed.
  • Research and problem resolution as needed.
  • Manage annual real estate review process for trust owned real estate. Track and pay real estate taxes timely.
  • Monthly transactional review of system coding.
  • Monthly file submission to EY.
  • Responsible for tracking and ordering all necessary tax documents annually.
  • Prepare various specialized client reports periodically.
  • Prepare and manage delinquent income reporting.
  • Monthly fee balancing and posting.
  • Prepare and manage annual fee review process.
  • Fee research, analysis and problem resolution as needed.
  • Department tasks including: Assist with monthly variable note processing. Participate in cross-training. Completing reconciliations accurately and timely. Monitor database and email and work requests to conclusion timely.
  • Will perform special projects as assigned.

Education, Job Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience in related field.
  • Prior experience in tax return preparation preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, including cross-training throughout operational functions.
  • Knowledge of accounting & tax laws preferably as they relate to trusts, investment accounts and retirement plans.
  • Ability to develop and present educational / training to entire department within area of expertise, as needed.
  • Highly organized individual that works well under deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills a must, Access skills a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage time, organize priorities, and multitask with daily interruptions.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adjust priorities based upon changing needs and deadlines.
  • Team Player.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience in related field.
