Job Description

Research Technician 3 to assist and support scientific investigation to study bioethics and related fields in support of and as directed by the Director of the OSU Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities within the Department of Biomedical Education and Anatomy; plans and performs tasks requiring initiative and judgment by applying basic knowledge and understanding of applicable research methodology; assists with advancing research projects through completion of tasks during project planning, analysis, publication and dissemination to include conducting literature searches on relevant topics; performing data collection, management and analysis; gathering and cataloging references; and assisting the principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; assists with goal, project, and task mapping and management; performs miscellaneous administrative tasks in support of studies.

Essential Duties

80%: Assists and supports scientific and theoretical investigations in the study of bioethics and related fields as directed; plans and performs tasks requiring initiative and judgment by applying basic knowledge and understanding of applicable research methodology; assists with advancing research projects through completion of tasks during project planning, analysis, publication and dissemination to include conducting literature searches on relevant topics; performing data collection, management and analysis; gathering and cataloging references; and assisting the principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts.

10%:Assists with goal, project, and task mapping and management.

5%: Performs miscellaneous administrative tasks in support of studies to include but not limited to recording and dictation of presentations, communication regarding scholarship opportunities and speaking requests, ordering materials, and travel arrangements.

5%: Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required. Knowledge and understanding of applicable research methodology required. Ability to edit and conform papers to publisher style required. Willingness to acquire understanding of the language around ethics, medicine, and Orthodox Christian moral theology and comfort assisting in these lines of inquiry required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Additional Desired Qualifications

Knowledge and experience working with software for dictation, OCR, grammar/syntax correction, and system advocacy related to dyslexia strongly preferred. Basic understanding of the language around ethics, medicine, and Orthodox Christian moral theology strongly preferred.
