Job Purpose

This position is responsible for self-sourcing and closing SBA and USDA B&I loans to borrowers located in the Peoples Bank footprint. Will sell and close loans referred to him or her by internal partners. However, this role will not be responsible for the ongoing servicing of loans or borrowers. Will execute job responsibilities according to policies and procedures and maintain the highest ethical standards when dealing with clients, prospects, and colleagues.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for generating new loan relationships to achieve specific personal production and revenue growth goals.
  • Effectively and independently source new business opportunities and work within defined credit review and approval processes to achieve loan production goals.
  • Successfully refer appropriate bank partners to meet client's needs.
  • Initiate and maintain effective partnerships with assigned partners. Frequent and regular in-person contact with internal partners to assist in the production of SBA and USDA B&I loans.
  • Individually develop and work with appropriate credit partners to develop loan presentations for approval. Present credit presentations for approval to the appropriate officers.
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of the SBA SOP and the guidelines of the USDA B&I loan program.
  • Work with internal support departments to obtain appropriate documentation to successfully complete the loan funding.
  • Ensure quality and quantities of sales calls are made regularly on clients, prospects, and centers of influence to generate incremental revenues.
  • Actively utilize Client Relationship Management system to manage and prospect relationships.
  • Maintain proficiency in all government guaranteed Bank loans offered by Peoples Bank. Expertise is required in matching features and benefits of bank products and services to meet customer and prospect needs by using the Peoples Bank Sales Process.
  • Must earn client business through value added sales efforts and attend Peoples Bank Sales Training and Advanced Sales Training within 12 months of hire date.
  • Must recognize need-based sales opportunities and make referrals to partners in Treasury/Cash Management, Insurance, Trust and Investments, and Retail segments.
  • Analyze financial information provided by customers, prospects, and centers of influence to determine questions to ask and to decide on whether the request should be pursued.
  • Proactively manage prospects and clients to ensure portfolio risk is minimized and within Bank credit guidelines.
  • Adhere to bank, regulatory, and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in community and civic organizations to develop and enhance a network of potential COI and customers while achieving Peoples Bank objective of involvement as a community bank.
  • Will perform special projects as assigned.

Education, Experience and Job Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of financial services experience serving business and non-profit customers.
  • 2 years of SBA and/or USDA B&I lending sales experience.
  • Must be an energetic self-starter that works well with others but can also work on their own.
  • Proficient in SBA lending and preferred to have proficiency in USDA B&I lending.
  • Must have the ability to interpret financial situations and problem solve as needed.
  • Must be willing to make joint and solo calls on customers, prospects, and centers of influence.
  • Highly effective communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Software and familiarity with CRM utilization for sales tracking and utilizing sales tools.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Regional travel and possible overnight travel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of financial services experience serving business and non-profit customers.
  • 2 years of SBA and/or USDA B&I lending sales experience.
