General Summary

As a PLC and Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for meeting facility targets for safety, production, and quality by maintaining automation systems throughout our manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities would include development, effective troubleshooting and problem solving on Rockwell Automation PLC and HMI hardware. The job would include Continuous development through experience and training to understand and troubleshoot more complex control systems such as Windows based HMI's, Robotics, and Automatic Guided Vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing and overseeing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.
  • Installation, setup, and maintenance for processing equipment, instrumentation controls, and networks.
  • Develop solutions and provide team support as it pertains to automation equipment.
  • Lead maintenance activity related testing, calibration, and repairs of pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, indicating, and control instruments and or equipment
  • Provide automation support and PLC training to site maintenance personnel
  • Ensure that all applicable codes, standards, and specifications are being maintained, including but not limited to NEC, state/local electrical codes
  • Follow and aide in the development of department SOP's and JSA's
  • Other Duties as assigned
  • Specific duties in the following key areas:

PLC

  • Provide PLC assistance with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and trending of control systems.
  • Perform PLC system uploads and downloads.
  • Maintain remote I/O and Control Networks
  • Experience with PLC programming modifications
  • Proficient with PLC5, SLC500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000 and familiar with other controllers.

HMI

  • Provide assistance with diagnosing, troubleshooting and improving HMI hardware.
  • Perform HMI uploads and downloads
  • Provide HMI training for operators on an as needed basis.
  • Proficient with RSVIEW, Panelbuilder32, Factory talk View Studio
  • Familiar with Windows based HMI systems.

Electrical

  • Proficient electrical knowledge of 24V - 480V AC/DC electrical power and control systems, Electric Motor and Motor Control Center knowledge, VFD's, and PLC systems
  • Proficient in trouble shooting automated systems, schematics & wiring diagrams, mathematics, and electrical theory
  • Proficient in National Electrical Code in industrial applications. Motor Controls: conductor, over current protection, overloads devices and proper selection
  • Proficient in the uses of DMM's voltage, amperage, milliamp sourcing and sinking, resistance readings. Meg Ohm meter setup usage and interpretations
  • Understand and apply NFPA 70E standards

Control Systems

  • Install setup/repair/troubleshoot various control devices for example: Weighing systems, pumps, motor controls, temperature controls, and flow controls.
  • Perform and Develop calibration standards and work procedures in conformance with established policies.
  • Proficient with pneumatic and Hydraulic systems and their interaction with PLC's and automated machinery.
  • Proficient in testing, calibration, and repairs of pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, indicating, and controls instruments/equipment
  • Perform calibration standards & work procedures, provide work order feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery
  • Familiar with PID loop control.
  • Manage and maintain back-up copies of critical automation equipment programs and parameters.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of practical electrical/ instrumentation/ controls experience in an industrial setting
  • Hands-on experienced with programming PLCs and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) skillsets
  • Asset reliability experience including preventive maintenance, alarming, and warning systems.
  • Proven interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Must be able to pass a hands-on Electrical Test, Mechanical aptitude test and Work Keys.
  • PIE Certification or ability to obtain PIE Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in a Technical Field
  • Rockwell PLC Certifications is a plus
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications
  • Wonderware InTouch
  • ABB Robotics
  • Fanuc Robotics

Compensation and Benefits:

The starting rate for this full-time, hourly position is$38.39/hour.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
