The Recreational Therapist accepts recreational therapy referrals and provides therapeutic opportunities for individual patients and/or groups of patients to develop and practice healthy leisure/recreational/sport activities in the psychiatric inpatient treatment setting.
The Recreational Therapist provides therapeutic services, including assessment, intervention, program planning and implementation, assists with discharge planning, and provides related documentation in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.

The Recreational Therapist is an integral member of the interdisciplinary treatment team on a patient care unit. The treatment team cultivates an atmosphere of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The Recreational Therapist functions within the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide patient care and supportive services that are directed at achievement of patient care outcomes, maximizing the patients involvement in his/her own care plan and maintaining a high level of productivity. Patients and their family will experience the benefits personalized of patient care through the integrated skills of all treatment team members. Services provided include 24-hour inpatient care, outpatient, and partial hospitalization care for psychiatric patients.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited program, or equivalent experience; Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification preferred; Demonstrates competence to meet essential job functions; Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, performance improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols, completes annual education and health requirements; Maintains current CTRS certification;

• Bachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited program, or equivalent experience.
