Job Summary:

The Machine Operator will set up, operate, and adjust machinery used in the can-making process. The operator will perform quality checks to ensure that can dimensions meet product specifications.

Job Duties:

  • Read blueprints and can drawings to determine job specifications and tooling.
  • Set up and operate manufacturing equipment (ie., Extrusion Press, Liner Machine, Printer, Necker, etc.).
  • Perform routine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and changeovers on manufacturing equipment.
  • Observe machine operations to detect machine faults and make necessary adjustments.
  • Monitor environmental factors, such as humidity and temperature, that may impact equipment performance.
  • Remain organized, maintain proper inventory levels, and stack finished items as needed.
  • Perform routine quality checks and record findings to ensure cans meet job specifications.
  • Communicate defects and production outputs to fellow operators.
  • Authority to stop and/or modify work processes due to non-conformance and/or unsafe working conditions.
  • Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager.
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Measuring skills using calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
  • Quality control skills to detect variations and defects in dimensions, color, size, etc.
  • Basic computer, data entry, and blueprint reading skills.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a team player and possess a "can do" attitude.
  • Ability stand for long periods of time on concrete floor.

Work Environment:

This role is in a manufacturing environment and the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts that produce noise.

*Aptitude test(s), in which minimum scores should be achieved, are a standard part of the application process.
