GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Senior Technical Accountant is a critical Corporate Accounting role that primarily provides technical expertise related to current accounting pronouncements as well as day to day application of the significant recent accounting standards including Revenue Recognition (ASC 606) and Lease Accounting (ASC 842). In addition to being responsible for the appropriate accounting aspects of these standards based on existing agreements, this role will also support the business and sales functions by providing accounting advice for on-going contract negotiations. This role will report to the Senior Manager - Financial Reporting.

This is a hybrid position that reports in at Westlake, Ohio. The position requires a minimum of two in-office days weekly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILBILITIES:
* Ensure accuracy and completeness of our Lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, for both domestic and international business units. This includes monthly maintenance of current lease schedules and adherence to proper recording to the general ledger. Additionally, this includes maintaining and/or improving current lease identification processes to ensure that we account for all leases, including any implicit or imbedded leases, appropriately.
* Provide expert guidance and support to the business units, both domestic and international, on accounting treatment of leases throughout the negotiation process, as required.
* Support and preparation of the quarterly and annual footnote disclosures as required by ASC 842.
* Proactively identifying potential expiring leases and contacting the appropriate department to identify new or amended leases to be reviewed and assessed for appropriate
* Oversee and perform our Revenue Recognition accounting in accordance with ASC 606. This includes the monthly accounting maintenance of current contracts, periodic reassessments of estimates, and the related schedules which drive general ledger accounting entries, both automatic and manual in nature.
* Be able to read and comprehend numerous customer contracts and interpret the key aspects that drive the appropriate accounting under ASC 606.
* Provide analysis and insight, specifically accounting treatment in accordance with ASC 606, in both discussion and memorandum form, to the sales and related teams during the contract negotiation process, as requested.
* Support and preparation of the quarterly and annual footnote disclosures as required by ASC 606.
* Other responsibilities to include review and completion of the quarterly and annual GAAP disclosure checklists, research and conclusions on other technical accounting matters, other accounting responsibilities as assigned, and other special projects as needed.
