The Ohio Turnpike & Infrastructure Commission is seeking an experienced MW Class II Landscaper employee to work in our Maintenance Department at the Elmore Maintenance Building in Elmore, OH. Job Duties:

• Maintain, construct, and repair landscaping.
• Apply pesticide treatment of roadside vegetation, ornamentals and turf grass.
• Construction of landscapes.
• Prune, trim, and clear trees, brush, shrubs, etc.
• Performs snow and ice removal operations when required and any other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Division Superintendent.

• Knowledge of landscaping and applicable regulations and practice.
• Operation of tools and equipment; safety practices*; agency policies and procedures.*
• Skill in operating hand and power tools related to landscaping.
• Ability to understand plans and assignments.
• Work alone on tasks.
• Stand, walk or bend continuously.
• Lift and carry 40 pounds frequently and 80 pounds occasionally.
• Use mechanical equipment; radio and telephone communications.*
• Use limbs/fingers easily to perform manual tasks.
• Assigned to an approximate 120-mile section of roadway with the ability to drive throughout the distance of the Ohio Turnpike.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience and applicable training in the field of commercial landscaping.
• Valid Class "A" Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement is required.
• Ohio Commercial Applicator Pesticide License as a minimum, but not limited to Categories 5, 6A and 8, through the Ohio Department of Agriculture Pesticide Regulations is required.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS

• Exposure to fumes, dust, dirt, unpleasant odors, vibration, loud noise, hazardous materials, grease, confined work areas, high voltage, power tools, and equipment noise.
• Exposed to changing weather conditions (rain, lightening, humidity, heat, cold, snow, ice);
• Work on extension ladder, manlift and scaffolding.
• Available to work overtime during on-call hours and when necessary, considerable overtime may be required.
