Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience deploying solutions in an enterprise application software with external clients and strong analytical and management skills. This is achieved by leading the business requirements discussions. This role is responsible for analyzing customer's as-is TMS operations, identifying opportunities to improve processes, develop and document improved processes for the successful implementation of the Trimble solution. Additional responsibilities include problem identification, issue mediation, and deliver a course of action while implementing software to our clients. This role will provide guidance related to future state configuration, mentoring implementation consultants, and being a thought leader in regards to solution delivery best practices. The Solution Architect works with Clients, along with Project Managers, Implementation Consultants, Subject Matter Experts, Product Managers and Software Engineers to improve the collective Solution Delivery competence and quality of Trimble products.


Primary Responsibilities:

Define and document customer requirements

  • Overall business process and workflow

  • Reporting needs

  • Data structure and definition

Identify opportunities to improve business processes

  • Leads Business Requirements sessions. Collaborates with Implementation Consultants and Subject Matter Experts, to create clear & concise documentation that defines clients' business requirements, any identified software gaps, and Trimble's proposed future solution design.

  • Provides guidance, recommendation and best practices in the setup, configuration and validation of Future State solution as documented and approved by clients, working with the project team to insure requirements are met, validated and assimilated to end users.

  • Identifies gaps between client requirements and core Trimble software functionality.

  • Works with the Product Managers, Technical Architects, Software Engineers and various Trimble Subject Matter Experts to determine the client's best software solution.

  • Writes Professional Service Requests (PSR)/business specifications that explain the business justifications and recommended usage scenarios for Trimble software enhancements.

  • Works with professional service Implementation Consultants, Business Analyst and Subject Matters Experts to ensure future state design is successfully implemented.

  • Takes ownership of the solution offering/future state deployment

  • Develops and executes a solution strategy (Future State) that meets client business requirements

  • Act as visionary and strategist for Solution Delivery team within Professional Services

  • Surveys market/industry landscape for solution insights, direction, vendors, and methods

  • Identifies and translates business requirements into high-level software design documentation

  • Provides expertise to identify and apply configuration settings and/or other tools and integrations available within the system to meet business requirements

  • Provides mentoring to other PS Implementation Consultants and Business Analysts

  • Assists (as necessary) in performing tasks traditionally tasked to Implementation Consultants, Business Analysts and Subject Matter Experts to fulfill system implementation requirements

  • Communicate changes to delivery dates in a timely manner

Required Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of TruckMate / TMW Suite software, as well as the ability to identify the specific TruckMate / TMW Suite features that best meet client business requirements

  • Ability to assess client needs and diagnose the root causes of client concerns

  • Effective interviewing skills

  • Ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of a client's organization

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), including Visio

  • Familiarity with the transportation & logistics industry

  • Basic SQL and/or programming skills

  • Understanding of the software development life cycle

  • Team player with mentoring skills

  • Other duties as assigned

Travel Requirements:

  • 25 - 50%

  • Ability to travel overnight 4 to 5 days per week

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Enterprise wide software in a transportation industry

  • Experience with TruckMate & TMW systems

  • Operations or Administration experience in the transportation industry
