Job Description

Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Location: Dayton, OH

Employment: 12 month Contract

The Payroll Specialist provides support and guidance on payroll related issues across the Trimble organization. The role will interpret operating practices on a daily basis when analyzing, auditing, and processing payroll and payroll adjustments. In addition to being engaged in payroll processing, this position will:

  • Serve as a liaison between HR, Benefits, Stock and Employees.

  • Support Payroll helpdesk by researching and resolving issues.

  • Support time capture system users and 3rd Party service bureaus.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily payroll department operations.

  • Payroll Helpdesk support - research and resolve employee and 3 rd party queries received.

  • Process bi-weekly payrolls for three - five legal entities.

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll data transactions are processed accurately and timely thru other third party data exchange.

  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed report totals.

  • Ensure compliance with current regulations and internal policies in support of SOX compliance.

  • Collaborate with Human Resource and accounting teams.

  • Process accurate year-end reporting and address corrections when necessary.

  • Prepare reports for management, finance department and other payroll customers.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent : Equivalent - 3-5 years Payroll operational experience in a Shared Service environment - specifically, prior experience in ERP applications supporting HR, Time Capture, Benefits and Payroll operations in a multi-state environment supporting a multiple legal entities.

  • Solid knowledge of legislation and regulations for multi-state taxation and multi-legal entity payroll operations.

  • Proficient in MS Office and familiarity with payroll/HRIS software (ADP, Kronos, Workday).

  • Ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Must have current working knowledge of payroll best practices.

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.

  • Canadian payroll experience is a definite plus!

  • Professional certification, FCP preferred but not required.
