Get onboard the UTC Aerospace Operations and Supply Chain team and play a part in managing our innovative products from inception to delivery. Our Landing Systems Business Unit headquartered in Troy, Ohio designs, tests and manufactures a wide range of fully integrated landing systems. Our innovative solutions include lighter-weight, high-strength materials; more electric technologies; DURACARB carbon friction material; EDL extended life configurations; and innovative aircraft gear, wheel and brake design. We have an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern at our Troy location. This position is a part-time position which allows you to work while attending school. Most rotations/assignments are short duration such that they can be completed within the assigned intern/co-op period. During each rotation period, the incumbent will support unique departmental engineering assignments and responsibilities as required to support the overall manufacturing engineering/lean, quality assurance, and shop floor operations.
Minimum of Sophomore level status in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Materials or Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Technology; good oral and written communication skills; solid problem solving skills. Minimum Qualifications: * Sophomore, Junior or Senior level (at least 48 semester hours of credit) with a major in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Materials or Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Technology. * GPA of 2.75 or higher (minimum 3.0 preferred) * Good oral and written communication skills, as well as solid analytical problem solving skills are extremely valuable. Experience with Microsoft Office products is very useful.
Specific projects/assignments: The specific projects and assignments vary depending on the department to which the co-op is assigned. Most assignments are short duration such that they can be completed within the assigned co-op period. All assignments are intended to introduce and expose the incumbent to product transition from the initial design through the manufacturing process. Incumbent may have the opportunity to develop and implement systems that assure product quality. Incumbent will manage, create, and update manufacturing data, including routing, fixturing, and tooling. Opportunities for training (on-the-job or off-site): The engineering intern/co-op program is considered to be an on-the-job training position where individuals unfamiliar with aircraft wheels and brakes can learn the overall design, manufacture, test, and analysis process. Opportunities are also available for formal training in areas such as administrative skills, communication, safety, leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and technical skills.
