As our Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for providing timely, accurate, and efficient administrative support for plant personnel in the areas of human resources and activity planning.

Note: This is a part-time position (Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 1:00 pm)

What you'll be doing:

  • Issuing and collecting time sheets, distributing employee paychecks, and managing timesheets
  • Proving Leave Management claims assistance
  • Curating third-party administrator contact information for FMLA and Short-Term Disability
  • Updating attendance databases with FMLA and STD information
  • Corresponding with employees regarding their leave status updates
  • Assisting with staffing process for full time and temporary employees
  • Maintaining/updating job descriptions, conducting phone screens, scheduling interviews, and coordinating safety training for new employees
  • Coordinating and delegating WorkKeys testing for candidates
  • Participating in offer creation and assisting with background contingencies, including pre-employment physicals, background checks, and drug screening
  • Supporting development of annual Affirmative Action Plan
  • Maintaining employee attendance and vacation records on a weekly basis
  • Notifying HR Manager when circumstances arise when disciplinary action is necessary
  • Tracking disciplinary actions to ensure completion and return for filing
  • Facilitating records retention through creating and maintaining HR & medical files
  • Fielding basic HR questions from associates
  • Assisting with maintenance of plant policies, procedures, and handbook
  • Maintaining compliance with all state and federal posting requirements
  • Serving as event planning and United Way Coordinator
  • Providing administrative support for recognition/rewards system
  • Coordinating distribution and return of new hire probation and safety paperwork
  • Receiving, screening, and directing incoming calls and visitors
  • Receiving, processing, and distributing all internal/external mail
  • Maintaining inventory of office supplies and general plant supplies
  • Overseeing EHS filing, such as Workers Comp files, Medical Files
  • Assisting with EHS data entry and database maintenance
  • Providing monthly hours tracking reports to EHS Manager

What will make you successful:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Proven ability to drive toward results and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years' experience as an Office Assistant

About the Location (Hilliard, OH)

Our Hilliard Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs 100+ people across multiple shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of acoustical ceiling tile. The Hilliard plant prides itself in placing high priority on safety, quality and exceeding customer expectations.

Located 13 miles west of downtown Columbus, the city of Hilliard is a charming blend of old and new.
