We're looking for a Cybersecurity Student Intern..

The internship position is for one year. The Computer Center Technical Student Intern works with the Cybersecurity Group within the CNI Department to assist with operation of the laboratory's cybersecurity program. This includes monitoring, investigations, application evaluations, documentation, vulnerability scanning/remidiation, audits, and other duties as assigned. The Student Intern will also work with other groups within the CNI Department and the CCS&T Division providing operational cybersecurity support.



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of the various Microsoft Windows OS versions, any Linux variant, Mac OS X and TCP/IP networking. This candidate must adhere to written and verbal instructions, understand and follow established lab policies, and have excellent communication skills both in writing and in speech. Home broadband network required.

The ability to program using C, JAVA, or other language along with the expertise to write moderately complex scripts using Python, Powershell, BASH, or others is extremely important.

In addition, the candidate must be enrolled full time in a local university, available to work 20 hours each week during school sessions (18 hours being the minimum), and 40 hours per week between school sessions.

Education and Experience:

Applicant must be a full-time college student with a GPA of 2.5 or better and must be majoring in Computer Science or a program with a concentration in Information Technology. Proof of full-time status and copies of transcripts are required (unofficial copies are acceptable).

* Must be able to distinguish equipment noises, tones, and alarms from background noises.
