Job Description:

The Material Planner will coordinate delivery of raw material from suppliers, domestic and foreign, in support of production requirements.  The material planner will work as part of the materials management team to support 1) right-size of inventory 2) DOH 3) stability in the plant through utilization of SAP system to communicate with suppliers.

  • Plan purchased components to meet production schedules (NA Region and Overseas suppliers)
  • Send releases/forecast to suppliers every week
  • Expedite material as needed to avoid line interruption or impact to customer shipments
  • Maintain inventory levels according to inventory level plan
  • Monitor/Track overseas shipments to ensure on time delivery
  • Maintain PFEP (plan for every part) data in SAP
  • Follow-up of past due requirements
  • Maintain Supply WEB for all non-EDI suppliers
  • Manage incoming receiving Audits
  • Daily receipt reconciliation of incoming material
  • Use SAP generated reports to monitor open/ late deliveries
  • Issue DPR/MRR’s for supplier delivery issues
  • Respond to Mfg. inquiries regarding purchased parts
  • Schedule LTL shipments
  • Track premium freight via database
  • Other tasks as required.

Required Skills:

  • Experience using SAP system
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office  (Excel in particular)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Required Experience:

  • Experience in Logistics, Materials Management / Materials Planning / Production Planning or Purchasing environment.
  • 2+4 years experience working with ERP system, SAP.
  • Experience in lean environment
  • APICS Certification a plus
