General Summary:

The main goal of the Process Engineering Supervisor is to improve processes, and to reduce scrap and downtime. This position will also be responsible for process Validation and Verification, DOE's and the use/application of RJG/Scientific Molding is imperative insofar as this is a "hands-on" Engineering role.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the efficient and high quality production of customer parts through engineering best practices and the effective management of production associates and processes.
• Plan and implement safe, efficient, and effective manufacturing processes in to production.
• Monitor and direct corrections to production process/layout to meet or exceed production requirements, cost effectiveness and improve safety.
• Lead Lean/Six Sigma and 5S manufacturing initiatives.
• Provide technical support for mold processing and improvement.
• Improve overall performance of the technical team by measurable standards.
• Participate in and support initiatives and corrective actions related to safety.
• Maintain documentation necessary for all projects.

Sustaining -

• Optimizes Process for operators using RJG and/or Scientific molding knowledge and ensures that any/all changes are properly recorded
• Uses knowledge of Preventative Action to avert nonconformities, i.e. "built-in" versus "inspected-in" quality
• Validates set-up procedures, report completion to manufacturing, verifies that cycle times are at optimum and maintaining quality/quantity standards
• Involved in the set-up of robots, sprue pickers and other supporting equipment
• Create and maintain all process and/or manufacturing related documentation.
• Assist Molding Technicians and Quality personnel with any process and/or manufacturing related issues.
• Be a leader of the Molding Department's Continuous Improvement Team
• Promotes cleanliness and safety policies and procedures throughout the entire company.

Process Improvement -

• Identifies opportunities for Process Improvement (cycle time, scrap, etc.) and initiates actions for improvement
• Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) on existing tooling to establish the optimum
• Participates in 5S and Lean activities

New Product Development -

• Runs sampling for new tooling/jobs
• Assists in establishing workstation standards
• Presents start-up shots to Quality for approval prior to production runs
• Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) on all new tooling programs to establish the optimum molding/manufacturing process.
• Assist in design and fabrication for new mold tooling, and identify needed molding technologies to advance capabilities.

Education and Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related area. A combination of education and relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical documents, drawings, and journals
• Requires processing skills in a variety of polymers
• Knowledge of Hydraulic, and Electrical molding machines
• Certified and experienced in the use of RJG or Scientific Molding a plus
• Desire and ability to teach/mentor others
• Strong skills in time management
• Experience with Quality Systems and a commitment to product quality
• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, as well as three to five years of experience with ERP systems, preferably with IQMS
