Position Description

What your job will be like:

Does the idea of taking on a leading role inoptics and beam dynamics simulation efforts excite you? Jefferson Lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our Center for Advanced Study of Accelerators (CASA) in the Accelerator Physics group. This is a two-year term position that has a lot to offer, so we invite you to come make a difference at the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF).

In thisrole youwill:

  • Lead efforts in the completion of Start-to-End (S2E) optics and beam dynamics simulations of the CEBAF design
  • Participate in error studies, beam loss and power depositions studies, and some diagnostics work
  • Provide guidance and leadershipto a designated PhD student

Qualifications We Require:

Education:

  • A PhD in Accelerator Physics/Science, preferably with a background in beamdynamics simulations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing (e.g., email, memos, drawings, publications, tech notes)
  • Ability to accurately explain and represent work on specific projects in conferences, workshops, and professional meetings
  • Ability to exhibit strong programming and coding skills
  • Ability to regularly document progress and codes to include familiarity with version control concepts

Qualifications We Desire:

  • A record of previous start-to-end simulations is desirable
  • Experience and/or desire in supervision and/or guidance of students is desirable
