The Opportunity

As the company continues to grow we are seeking a Project Support Specialist Co-op for our 2022 Summer Intern Program. This Project Support Specialist Co-op is ideal for candidates of a project management certificate or degree program. While working on your degree or certificate, also develop your real-world application of the skills learned in school by working with a world leader in the medical device space with coaching, mentoring, with the goal to potentially mature into a full-time role post-graduation.

The Project Support Specialist Co-op (PSSC) provides support to project managers and technical teams in handling project management related elements including (but not limited to) documentation management, project scheduling, procurement assistance, and status update report generation. Build strong partnerships with technical team members through providing excellent enabling support with the completion of tasks that are critical to the program. Work closely with project management staff to help drive key aspects of a project including management of metrics and KPI, design reviews, phase gate closures, and project plans updates.

This position is in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

  • Under guidance of a mentor, provide project management support including document management, procurement support, and management using project management tools and other software.

  • Lead and attend project meetings to assist project manager, to keep informed about projects, and identify upcoming activities. Offer comments and suggestions related to the project. Assist with agenda and meeting minute preparation. Asist with agenda, meeting minute preparation, change orders, and monthly invoice reviews.

  • Follow up with team members for status, and help facilitate bringing team together with project manager or other management to overcome obstacles to progress.

The Individual

  • Field of Study: Project Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Chemistry, Biology

  • Minimum Year In school: Completed Junior Year

  • Minimum GPA: 3.0

  • Proficient computer skills, particularly: Excel, MS Project, Word, and project management software

  • High degree of initiative and technical ability for document management, organizing, presenting information.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Must possess excellent analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills with the ability to interact with all levels of organization.

  • Good understanding of data visualization and information design concepts.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with department staff.

  • Ability to utilize critical and creative thinking, as well as analyze, problem solve, and recommend solutions.

  • Must demonstrate strong customer focus skills.
