Job Description

Purpose

The electrical technician provides technical support to production and facility and is responsible for providing electrical expertise on the maintenance of equipment and building assets that will minimize costs, downtime, and waste.

Duties

  • Provide electrical and electronic repair/support for all areas of the facility, especially the production equipment
  • Diagnoses causes of electrical malfunctions or failures and performs preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Develops wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and electrical specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion
  • Assist in PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Assist in the design, installation, debugging, validation, and start-up of new/modified production equipment
  • Demonstrates initiative by routinely taking on challenging tasks that improve processes.
  • Proposes design changes to management in the areas of equipment upgrade, problem elimination, quality improvements, and cost reduction. Works with all levels to facilitate these changes
  • Fabricate new parts or repairs existing electrical parts as appropriate
  • Support production operation to achieve manufacturing goals
  • Leads and supports machine design, installation, and validation projects
  • Interacts closely with team members and functional areas supporting large projects
  • Source out replacement parts, continually looking to reduce procurement costs
  • Assist and/or perform purchasing duties within the maintenance department.
  • Provide training in the service and repair of production equipment
  • Support the development of Preventative Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance activities, along with improving the PM program
  • Other duties, as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Technical knowledge with state/federal (OSHA) standards, environmental regulations, and NFPA codes
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Able to meet schedules/time lines and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet Explorer
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and control systems

Knowledge Requirements

  • Two year associate technical degree in Sciences/Electrical Engineering or Journeyman Electrician certification
  • Minimum of five years of experience as an electrical technician in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements

  • Work 12 hour rotating shifts.
  • Must be able to withstand heat.
