CNC Machinist & Assembly - Dayton, OH

APEX is hiring hands on Team Members for our Dayton, Ohio manufacturing facility, focused on the metal machining, heat treatment, and assembly of high quality and ultra-durable assembly and fabrication tools. We currently have job openings on our 2nd Shift operation - normal hours are 3:30 pm to 12:00 am Monday - Friday. Overtime available during week and on weekends. Wages start at $18.57 per hour for Assembly Team Members, $23.65 per hour for Semi-Automated Mechanical Lathes / Conventional CNC Lathes, and $24.50 for Multi-Axis CNC Swiss Turn Lathes. We offer an additional $0.65 per hour shift premium for 2nd Shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Setup and operates and metal machining equipment such as Brown & Sharpe Screw Machines, Acme Gridley Bar Machines, Conventional CNC Lathes, Multi-Axis CNC Swiss Style Lathes, VMC Milling machines, and other in process manufacturing equipment
  • Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production
  • Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping
  • Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task
  • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment
  • Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary
  • Maintains inventory of completed products
  • Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects
  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs
  • Maintains a safe and clean workstation
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience in the setup and operation and various types of assembly, fabrication, or metal machining equipment such as lathes, mills, drill presses, hydraulic presses and other in process manufacturing equipment
  • Prior experience in the setup and operation Semi-Automated Mechanical Lathes such as Brown & Sharpe screw machines and Acme Gridley bar machines is desired
  • Experience in the setup and operation Conventional CNC Lathes such as Doosan, Miyano, Okuma, and Hardinge equipment is desired
  • Experience in the setup and operation fully automated Multi-Axis CNC Swiss Turn Lathes such as Star, Tsugami, Tornos, and Nomura equipment is desire
  • Familiar with navigating CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Siemens
  • Ability to troubleshoot (identify and correct) program issues at CNC machine level desired
  • Apprenticeship, vocational training, or technical degree is not required, but highly desired
  • Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production
  • Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in math, basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly
  • Working knowledge of safety protocols
