Our client, an advisory firm for electric utilities, independent power producers and commercial and industrial electric users is seeking a Senior Engineer to add to their Power team. This team has extensive experience in all facets of the utility industry and is employee-owned and independent. The role seeks a candidate strong with Electrical Engineering background and pays in the $85K-$105K with a strong benefit and bonus plan. The role requires 20% travel and can base in a variety of locations in the Midwest. The HQ in Madison, WI is a target location.
The key to this role is the ability to work with a team of engineers and provide consulting services for a wide range of engineering projects, including electrical utility planning, system protection and coordination, system design, and operational support. This roles requires individuals that are innovative, entrepreneurial, and open to high client interaction. The incumbent of the role will:
Provide electrical design of substation, transmission, distribution and commercial service projects.
Develop and procure material and construction specifications and contracts.
Coordinate meetings, evaluate bids and proposals, and provide contract award recommendations.
Provide direction related to creation of wiring diagrams and other construction drawings/schematics.
Direct, coordinate, and assist with testing and commissioning of electrical facilities.
Perform project management duties related to design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Work with external players such as electric utilities, state and local governments, consultants, construction contractors, vendors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
3+ years experience in the power/electrical/substation field of engineering
Experience with AutoCAD or other 2D or 3D modeling software.
Experience with Microsoft suite to include Excel and Word
Working knowledge of applicable NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards and electric codes as well as electric utility systems.
