QED Technologies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cabot Microelectronics Corp., (located in a Rochester, NY) has a current opening for a Mechanical Engineer.

Since it was founded in 1996, QED Technologies, based in Rochester, NY, has built a reputation for producing high quality products based on revolutionary, patented technology, advanced computer numerical control machines and world-class software to provide shop-ready solutions for nearly any precision optics manufacturing need. QED offers state-of-the-art MRF polishing and SSI metrology optical manufacturing solutions that are designed to meet the needs of advanced optics manufacturers by increasing production speed and yield while decreasing costs.

In July 2006, QED became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cabot Microelectronics Corp. (NASDAQ:CCMP). The relationship with CMC further strengthens QED and allows the company to achieve continued growth while maintaining its commitment to provide innovative products that set new standards in manufacturing precision optics.

QED has an opening for a paid Mechanical Engineering internship program beginning in January of 2020 that provides qualified students with a real world, hands-on learning experience designed to develop skills transferable to full-time positions in industry.

The internship program lasts approximately 12 weeks and is hosted at our Rochester NY location. The duration is negotiable depending upon QED needs and candidates academic schedule.

To be considered for the internship program, candidates should possess the following:

  • Proficient in PC skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Experience performing Mechanical Design with CREO or Solidworks (CREO preferred)
  • Hands-on aptitude (experience in machining, assembly, metrology a plus)
  • Minimum sophomore standing along with coursework in chosen discipline (Junior standing or greater preferred).
  • Statistical knowledge and/or Minitab experience a plus
  • Also, hands on development work on MRF machines.

Candidates selected for consideration will begin in January 2020.
