Job Description

New faculty search: Instructor of Practice. Will teach within the sonography program in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences; will mentor students in program; will teach a variety of courses in support of the radiologic sciences and therapy programs. Contributes to service needs of the School, College, University and appropriate professional

organizations.

Educational and/or Clinical/Didactic teaching background in one or more of the following is highly desired: Sonography/Radiologic Sciences

The primary responsibility of this position is the preparation and instruction of students in the Sonography Program.

Position Overview

The primary responsibility of this position is the teaching in the Sonography Program for the Division of Radiologic Sciences and Therapy. Teaching will take place during the Spring, Summer and Autumn semester of 2024 (July 1, 2024 through June 30 2027). This is a 50%, part-time, 12-month position. Teaching will occur with students in the Sonography program. The work assignments will be based on the curriculum of the Sonography program and the teaching needs of the Division.

Performance Objectives

  • Act as Clinical Coordinator for the Sonography Program
  • Update the course in Carmen Canvas
  • Prepare and deliver didactic and lab course material in conjunction with needs identified by the Division Director and the Program Director
  • Meet regularly with the Division Director, faculty, students if needed, and other parties as required.
  • Attend faculty meetings
  • Conduct classes, laboratories and simulations as appropriate.
  • Undertake course management and administration of all assignments and examinations.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Bachelors Degree and DMS (Sonography) credential

Experience in Radiologic Sciences and Therapy, training, and mentoring students in a variety of courses and laboratories in Radiologic Sciences. Experience in lab and didactic teaching in Sonography. Experience with the Canvas LMS.

Desired: Bachelors Degree; teaching experience including a record of intentional teaching practice including (a) creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all learners, (b) using new techniques, activities and types of learning, (c) promoting diversity of thought, and (d) promoting open-minded exploration.

The Radiologic Sciences and Therapy program at Ohio State offer three distinct degree tracks: radiation therapy, which is used to treat disease with concentrated beams of radiation; radiography, that provides diagnostic tests through X-Rays, CT scans and MRIs; and diagnostic medical sonography, which is more commonly known as 'ultrasound technology.

Radiography Completion of an accredited radiography training program required

Registry Required:

American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification, with specialties in abdominal and small parts, and obstetrics and gynecology

Certification; RDMS (Abd, OB/GYN)

Certification Required:

Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Completion of an accredited sonography training program required

Experience, Training and other Qualifications Required or Desired:

Considerable experience as Sonographer. Evidence of strong didactic/clinical teaching ability; ability to mentor undergraduate students. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screening.
