Job Description

Your Opportunity as the Senior Lab Technician-Coffee Research & Development

You will perform standard analytical testing of food/beverage samples in accordance with customer methods, company's procedures/policies and GLPs. Rigorous documentation of all testing activities is required, including the maintenance of laboratory notebooks, preparation of detailed laboratory reports, investigation reports etc.

The position also entails day-to-day activities associated with maintenance of laboratory functions (instrument calibration/maintenance, glassware cleaning, waste removal, supply inventory/ordering, sample tracking etc.)

You will work with cross functional teams in R&D, Quality, Production, and Maintenance. Effectively communicate technical results and recommendations by summarizing data and communicating results to the functional peers.

Location: Orrville, OH Corporate Offices in a Laboratory Setting

In this role you will:

  • Responsible for characterization of food samples: physical proprieties (e.g. pH, RI, particle size analysis) and chemical testing (e.g. HPLC), stability testing etc.:
  • Responsible for the operation of the analytical equipment
  • Load and run analytical equipment
  • Analyze batch output for conformity to SOP
  • Perform preventive maintenance on analytical equipment.
  • Analyze test results and report summary and conclusions to the team.
  • Prepare samples for analysis, including but not limited to grinding and brewing coffee samples.
  • Maintains an effective culture of laboratory safety.
  • Updates SOPs with necessary changes and revisions while ensuring proper document control.
  • Completes Corrective Action Reports and Preventative Action Reports when necessary.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • AA/AS Degree in Science/Technology plus 3+ years laboratory experience or undergraduate degree (B.A. or B.S.) with Chemistry lab experience.
  • Basic Computer Skills/data entry experience
  • Strong organizational
  • Communication (oral and written)
  • Time management and multi-tasking skills.

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize workload. At the same time, must be able to work in a group environment and contribute to team projects.
