The Dean of Students team serves as your primary advocates. We provide timely support through a variety of programs, including crisis management, conflict resolution, emergency response.

Job Overview

As a member of the Dean of Students CARE team, this role centers around providing comprehensive support to students during challenging times. In collaboration closely with various stakeholders to address non-clinical, consultative, emergency, and case management needs for students in crisis. Our team is committed to fostering an environment where every student can thrive.

Within the Dean of Students Office, under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Students. This full-time, grant-funded position spans 12 months.

Essential Functions
  • The Senior Social Worker collaborates closely with the Clinical Team as a Care Manager, providing ongoing mental health services to students. Additionally, they support the CAPS team by planning, implementing, and coordinating resources based on individual student and staff needs.
  • The goal of this position is to promote continuity of care through coordinating, collaborating and advocating based on students' needs.
  • Coordinates care with students receiving services from Student Health Services University Health Services, CAPS and area hospitals.
  • Assists Dean of Students staff with the hospitalization process, discharge planning, follow-ups, and coordination of other services.
  • Establishes, maintains and coordinates relationships with UC services such as the University Health Services and other campus organizations that would assist with the students' needs.
  • Consults with other staff to discuss resources.
  • Consults with students to determine their needs and best course of treatment.
  • Provides transitional support to referring therapist and clients in need of referral to community services.
  • Maintains community referral resources.
  • Serving as a liaison, this position facilitates coordination between CAPS, and various community referral sources. These sources encompass hospitals, private practitioners, clinics, psychiatry services, and other mental health agencies. Additionally, maintains a comprehensive database of community referral resources.
  • This position will be responsible for supervision of a trainee in our multi-disciplinary training program.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need
Required Education

Master's Degree must be in Social Work.

Required Experience
  • Five (5) years of post-master's counseling.
  • Case management experience.
Required Trainings/Certifications
  • State of Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or licensed eligible (must be obtained within six (6) months of employment)
  • State of Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor (LISW-S) (must be obtained within six (6) months of employment).
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Supervised internship or work experience within a university counseling center, mental health agency, or a related professional context.
  • Proficient in providing psychotherapy, conducting diagnostic assessments, and engaging in outreach.
  • Eligible for supervisor designation in the state of Ohio.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
