VGS is a highly acclaimed, successful, private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) vocational rehabilitation agency with over 130 years of dedicated experience serving persons with disabilities or other barriers to employment. We are currently seeking to hire an Area Manager with a minimum of 3 years of custodial supervisory experience that will be responsible for performing the following job duties.
  • Administers all aspects of Custodial Services, including fiscal responsibility as assigned by the General Manager of Custodial Services. Assist Site Managers with the nighttime operation of services. Is responsible for the complete operation of External Custodial Services, as directed in the absence of the General Manager of Services.
  • Responsible for increasing sales and develop new markets.
  • Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area.
  • Responsible for marketing all departments.
  • Trains, develops and supervises all site supervisors to ensure a high quality and efficient service is given to all clients and customers.
  • Responsible for implementing orientation-training sessions for clients and all other employees.
  • Assist Site Supervisors in assuring that participants who participate in the program are delivered a quality service and a positive experience.
  • Ensures that the CleanTelligent quality control program- or an equivalent program is being used to maximize quality.
  • Inspects for quality control of contract sites and is responsible for insuring quality meets customer parameters at these sites.
  • Inspects all periodic work upon completion.
  • Makes recommendations to the General Manager for supplies and equipment needs within allocated budget requirements.
  • Maintains appropriate records to assure financial accountability.
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of all equipment including but not limited to janitorial equipment, lawn care equipment, and vehicles assigned.
  • Responsible for maintaining all necessary record keeping coordinating with rehabilitation program.
  • Assures that all aspects of program are in keeping within DOL, OSHA, CARF, OPCRP, SourceAmerica, ODOT, GSA, DAS, SCA and all other applicable accreditation and quality control standards.
  • Responsible for submitting timely management reports.
  • Responsible for developing employees who can become successful site supervisors.
  • Distributes supply equipment and payroll to our accounts as directed.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
  • Directs preparation of accounting records.
  • Recommends budgets to General Manager.
  • Responsible for other duties assigned by appropriate administrative personnel.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Site Supervisors.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
  • Three years of experience supervising custodial contracts and/or supervision of a facility equaling 100,000 square feet or more is required.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred. High school or GED is required
  • Possesses strong knowledge in all facets of custodial services including but not limited to hard surface floor reconditioning and carpet cleaning.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with the disabled and/or welfare-to-work population preferred.
  • Must complete background check process which will include federal government clearance within first 30 days.
