About Housing Services

Housing Service plays a vital role in the UC's explosive growth and success. Residence hall occupancy has risen to 8000 beds in the last 10 years, an increase of 75% in that time.

Job Overview

The Associate Director is responsible for housing operations related to housing application processes, occupancy, billing, graduate housing, summer conference housing and data management. The Associate Director establishes and maintains effective, collaborative relationships with the Housing Services team and other campus constituents. They represent the Assistant Vice President of Housing in their absence.

Essential Functions
    • Directly supervises one Housing Operations Manager and two Neighborhood Operations Managers while indirectly supervising the processing and neighborhood operations teams. Serves as member of the Housing Services leadership team. Implements effective management practices in handling the office's daily operations.
    • Plan and participate in strategic planning, department goal setting, data/assessment efforts, and development of policies and protocols in partnership with Housing Leadership Team.
    • Spearhead the planning for and implementation of information technology initiatives for the department with both technical and non-technical staff.
    • Effectively manage the capabilities of the current housing management system (StarRez.) Design, coordinate, and supervise systems and procedures that promote innovation and efficiency in managing a comprehensive university housing program.
    • Forecast housing occupancy and monitor its impact on the department's budget.
    • Collaborate with internal staff and campus partners including Resident Education & Development (RED), Food Services, Enrollment Management, Bursar, Registrar, Digital Technology Solutions (DTS), Athletics and other stakeholders to provide an inclusive housing experience which enhances students' academic and personal success.
    • Assist with all major functions of University Housing including, but not limited to move-in, move-out, Admissions events, trainings, and retreats.
Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in housing administration/management on a college campus or similar environment.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Broad-based experience with StarRez or related housing information system experience
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience in university housing or related housing environment
