Sr. Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst

General Summary:

Designs, builds, implements, and produces dashboards utilizing financial data and analyses. Sources, collects, analyzes, and visualizes data to provide insights that support operations, analyses, and decision-making processes within the ERM department and the Bank. Works closely with staff to understand their reporting needs, designing and developing reports and dashboards, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Plays a critical role in communicating risk exposures and optimizing business operations through data-driven decision-making.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, builds, implements, and produces regular and ad-hoc financial and risk focused reports and dashboards utilizing internal and external data. Ensures accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of reports and dashboards.
  • Coordinates with staff to understand their information needs and identifies ways to visualize and present information and analytics in a user-friendly manner. Translates business needs into analytics/reporting requirements to support internal and external reporting, operations, and regulatory requests.
  • Works with staff to understand the business and reporting challenges. Identifies and analyzes performance and effectiveness of reports to determine opportunities for operational, analytical, and presentational enhancements.
  • Provides strategic and tactical direction with respect to enhancing reporting. Uses statistical methods, analytical techniques, and advanced technological tools to automate processes within the ERM department.
  • Initiates and manages requests for report changes and new report development. Identifies, tracks, and reports on data and reporting issues, both end-user computing and system technologies through their resolution.
  • Collaborates with the Data and Analytics department and Data Stewards to understand how information is defined, stored, manipulated, and utilized in order to improve ERM's use of the data warehouse for existing and potential analyses. Proactively mines the data warehouse to identify trends and patterns and generates insights for the Department and Bank as a whole.
  • Stays informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in data, business intelligence, automation, visualizations, and reporting.
  • This highly visible and high impact role works closely with department leadership to refine and execute the vision for ERM's management and use of data, visualization of and enhanced insights from model outputs and risk analytics, clarity of process flow, and increased automation.
  • Participates in fulfilling the Department's compliance with regulatory requirements, model governance requirements, and operational risk requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in business analytics, data science, business administration, finance, economics, statistics, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience as a data analyst, business intelligence analyst, market research analyst, financial analyst, statistician, or equivalent roles preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of data visualization and automation best practices. Intermediate skills in the use of Excel, as well as general visualization, automation, and data management techniques are required. Tableau, power query, and SQL knowledge preferred. Knowledge of other tools such as R, Python, and Power BI is a plus.
  • Familiarity with economics, banking, fixed income, and the financial industry as well as a broad understanding of relevant data and analytics trends.
  • Detail-oriented and possess the organizational and analytical skills necessary to develop, prepare, interpret, research, troubleshoot, and present a variety of reports and analyses in a fast-paced, continually evolving atmosphere.
  • Ability to generate insights from information. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and methodologies is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills necessary to effectively interact with all levels of Bank staff. Demonstrated experience presenting recommendations from a business perspective. Ability to credibly communicate complex topics to stakeholders.

Working Conditions:

Requires daily use of personal computer. Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours and meet multiple and changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Must be capable of engaging work in a hybrid-remote environment. Must be disciplined and self-motivated to accomplish goals under remote working conditions with limited supervision.
