POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing and order fulfillment activities at their facility. They lead all Manufacturing production functions including product manufacturing, and shipping/receiving, as well as drive the operations to achieve or exceed key performance indicators related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, people and cost.

The Operations Manager will motivate, cross-train, and grow an engaged team and establish business processes that are focused on succeeding all KPI's and continuous improvement projects in a safety focused environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for overall manufacturing operation of facility, inclusive of the management of activities pertaining to receiving, manufacturing and shipping.
  • Manages departmental business metrics including yield, labour efficiency and overhead expenses.
  • Hiring, training, managing production Operators, Lead Hands and Supervisors.
  • Responsible for ensuring team members are cross trained to work instructions and processes.
  • Ensures the fulfillment of customer orders within the specification of quality, quantity and cost.
  • Effective and regular communication of business KPI's, performance and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant environment.
  • Develops and continuously promotes an engaged continuous improvement and work safe culture
  • Ensures compliance to all safety, environmental, regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Investigates and identifies root causes of any non-compliance and implements corrective actions to ensure root causes are effectively addressed
  • Collaborates with all company functional groups and manufacturing plants to identify, standardize, document and train procedures, policies and guidelines to achieve tactical and strategic initiatives.
  • Trade best practices with other operational plants
  • Evaluate employee performance on an on-going basis and ensure that supervisory staff are providing team members with regular feedback and coaching.
  • Customer service focused and continuously working with Customer Service and Sales and Marketing to ensure the fulfillment of customer orders within the specifications of quality, on time delivery and cost

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7 year of experience managing a multi-shift manufacturing plant and multi-discipline team (50+ people).
  • Demonstrated experience in operational management with a strong health and safety focus.
  • Experience in sheet metal and metal forming operations preferred.
  • Power paint line experience would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement, quality system, lean and/or six sigma experience.
  • Strong abilities in Excel, Word and Power Point and other reporting tools.
  • Proven experience in hiring and developing engaged and highly productive and motivated teams at all levels from production to management.
  • Able to work collaboratively with the corporate team, sales and other manufacturing plants.
  • Demonstrated ERP business systems experience.
  • Results and detail oriented, analytical problem solver, great communicator with a positive attitude.
  • People and customer focused, team builder and developer.
