ABOUT THE JOB:

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are looking for a Quality Director for our yogurt manufacturing plant in Minster, Ohio. As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, the Director will oversee the plant quality department and contribute to the overall, long-term success of the organization. The Director, Plant QFS will deliver the value promises to the customer and consumer by ensuring conformity in product, processes, and behaviors. Act as guardian of compliance to legal and regulatory standards (master governance) by driving the delivery of the "best product every day, every time" and acting as a product superiority ambassador at the plant level.

In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:

Finished Product Superiority

  • Ensure Food Safety & Conformity of all products delivered to market, consistently with the plant's overall safety, quality, cost, delivery, mobilization, and nature scorecard specifications.
  • Responsible to validate and sign all specifications related to raw materials, packaging, and finished product, including workflow validations associated with the plant.
  • Ensures full compliance with finished product Quality & Food Safety Sampling /Control / Monitoring plan.
  • Ensures compliance with Local regulations, global Danone procedures and systematically execute against Danone North America specifications.
  • Drive the culture of quality at the plant level - support KPI tracking and improvement.
  • Build / animate and implement solid action plans for key Quality metrics (KPI's) including but not limited to consumer complaints, first pass cases, specification conformance/ABC, and finished goods losses (micro and non-micro).

Quality in all the Plant processes and projects

  • Full compliance with Raw & Packs & Process Quality & Food Safety Sampling /Control / Monitoring plan
  • Manage the Plant Laboratories in its four dimensions: production / expertise / training / role model (exemplarity)
  • Accountable for the plant metrology program (calibrations) and Q & FS preventive maintenance (PM)
  • Ensure full compliance with the Danone Food Safety Policy and NN and Danone standard's execution - comply with local regulations.
  • Ensure that Quality & Food Safety is part of all working instructions.
  • Organize with Suppliers & Sourcing Quality and implements the Incoming Inspection process, with strong feed-back toward Suppliers.
  • Build & steer a Plant Quality Improvement Plan, consistent with the CBU/ Zone Quality Business plan and Corporate directives.
  • Develop process capability & Quality visual management at all steps of incoming/production/maintenance/...
  • Eradicate critical Q & FS issues through systematic PDCA approach as they arise and manage NC & continuous improvement in timely manner.
  • Solely Accountable for product release and rules for NC product management
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and environmental programs (Neptune, opti-CIP)
  • Promote Risk Assessment and "Built-in Quality" in all projects: productivity, new products, new equipment in compliance with GTS, new standards, FS visas.
  • Accountable for the Quality Plant part as defined in the Goose process - including but not limited to validating Q & FS trials in design phase and validating the feasibility of projects.
  • Organize audits Vs internal & external referential, and use them as improvement opportunities - Lead plant action plan to address audit findings.
  • Facilitate/Animate & Communicate Quality & FS KPI at plant leadership level and CBU level when appropriate.
  • Act as Primary point of contact for quality at Plant level: ensure quality voice presence for all change management related matters within the plant.

People and Processes Management

  • Build and manage the Quality & FS budget for the plant (FTE, Opex, Capex) in collaboration with the Plant Director and with validation and approval of the CBU Quality VP/ Director US Operations Quality & NORAM VP Quality
  • Communicate and assure the Quality & Food Safety policy execution, including the escalation and communication rules (timelines, results, monthly reporting...)
  • In Collaboration with N+1, continuously engage key stakeholders inside & outside the organization on Quality initiatives (Plant LT, universities, Federal and Regulatory agencies, corporate function representatives...)
  • Manage and animate all certifications systems, including but not limited to FSSC 22000 Certification, Kosher, Organic...
  • Inspire behaviors aligned with Global and NORAM Quality strategies within all levels of the organization.
  • Organize trainings & coach plant teams for daily quality management, particularly First Line Managers
  • Develop the Quality team, and promote mobility cross-functionally/NORAM/International
  • As member of Plant Managing Committee, contributes to the Plant SQCDME performance as a whole.
  • Drive change management initiatives at local and zone level focused on Quality Best Practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a bachelor's degree in food science or microbiology or related field, with a minimum of 10 years food manufacturing experience in a Quality/Manufacturing environment required. Prior experience in the dairy industry is desired.
  • You have highly developed communication, leadership, interpersonal, project management skills, coupled with organizational sensitivity and the ability to influence key decision makers at all levels.
  • You act as a change agent who can build positive relationships on a foundation of trust and mutual respect.
  • You have technical expertise in finding root cause of quality issues and implementing best solution possible.
  • You have demonstrated root cause analysis experience and ability.
  • You can sift through data to find key factors that contribute to a successful product and the ability to communicate this information to non-technical plant leaders and employees.
  • You can anticipate and prepare 3-5-year strategic vision for Quality excellence.
  • You are knowledgeable of local, state, and federal quality regulations is desired.
