Description

Position is remote but open to residents of the State of Ohio only. Must reside in Ohio as of start date.

SUMMARY

The Senior Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Manager (Senior DEI-BM) supports PPGOH in the development and oversight of its diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives in collaboration with the Chief People, Equity, and Learning Officer. The Senior DEI-BM oversees PPGOH's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging and Learning goals and develops a comprehensive health equity framework that aligns with organizational goals. This position will facilitate use of new systems, technology, curriculum, and work across teams to advance DEI-B initiatives and integrate health equity into program design, implementation, and evaluation. The DEI-BM conducts an implementation strategy to prepare employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders to advocate for health equity initiatives at all levels of decision-making.

The Senior DEI-BM works with members of the People, Culture, & Equity (PCE) department to ensure that associates comply with policies and procedures that support the overall PPGOH workplace value of "we respect and honor all people." The Senior DEI-BM supports community engagement initiatives and forges meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders and community organizations focused on health equity to advance DEI-B initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to integrate health equity principles into the overall DEI-B strategy and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the agency by monitoring the adherence to established DEI-B policies and practices.
  • Manages DEI-B accreditation processes, provides updates, insights, action plans and coordinates/collaborates with CPELO and necessary stakeholders for success.
  • Applies an equity and trauma informed lens to all goals and benchmarks of the Affiliate.
  • Oversees engagement work that supports equity, belonging and advocacy work within PPGOH and its external stakeholders. By advocating for underrepresented groups, this position promotes equal opportunities and aims to amplify marginalized voices.
  • Supports the Associate Engagement Committee to ensure diverse representation at all levels of the organization. This includes hiring practices, leadership roles, and decision-making bodies.
  • Provides substantial high-level support to the CPELO in the integration of DEI-B lens through PCE activities.
  • Develops work plans for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging PPGOH activities and accreditation requirements and ensures programs reach underserved populations effectively.
  • Manages the calendar of all DEI-B related trainings, conferences, meetings, and engagement opportunities, while coordinating with MarCom's editorial calendar and the training calendar.
  • Creates opportunities for Associates across functions to meaningfully engage in DEI initiatives through committees, consulting partnerships, training, and other work.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of a new comprehensive DEI-B Training in collaboration with the Organization Development team. This education helps them understand diverse patient backgrounds, beliefs, and practices.
  • Provides DEI-B expertise in associate relations and patient experience efforts, in partnership with PPGOH leadership, to address social determinants of health and work toward equitable access to resources and services.
  • Serves as the PCE team's project management lead on DEI-related collaborative opportunities and special projects to improve cultural competence, which leads to better patient-provider interactions, reduced bias, and more effective care delivery.
  • Provides leadership by training, teaching, coaching, and collaborating with consultants, associates, and other stakeholders to identify and address health disparities.
  • Promotes an organizational culture that embraces the affiliate's workplace values of respect, caring, support, effective communication, teamwork, collaboration, accountability and responsibility; and works with staff to create and maintain a workplace environment reflective of these values.
  • Supports the growing needs of the organization in the DEI-B space by leading the creation of internal processes and tracking systems that drive critical work forward.
  • Spearheads ADA compliance initiatives, leading our efforts to create an accessible, inclusive work environment that meets the needs of all Associates, including those with disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strategic lens to co-create and implement programming.
  • Experience in trauma informed care, social work, or community organizing.
  • Commitment to learning and growing a keen understanding of equity and anti-racism frameworks.
  • Mediation and de-escalation skills.
  • Highly detail oriented and comfortable taking on a wide range of activities, including engagement with staff across departments and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable training, facilitating, and offering technical assistance.
  • Experience working with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance initiatives.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience in public policy, public health, advocacy, organizational development, or nonprofit service
  • Experience working with diverse and intersectional communities and a deep commitment to social and racial justice.
  • Experience creating and supporting Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) focused on health equity and related topics.
  • Experience in training, consulting, and facilitation across cultural and generational barriers
