**This position is eligible to work from home in MI, OH, IN, CT, DE, FL, GA, MA, MD, NC, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WV, ME, DC, AL, LA, MS, AR, IL, KY, MO, MN, WI**

Essential Functions:

  • Performs field inspections on large and complex personal and commercial property claims, such as fire, wind and hail, gas leaks, explosions, water pipe breaks, building collapses, vehicle damage, etc.
  • Sets timely, adequate reserves to cover company exposure
  • Prepares estimates, negotiates and adjusts assigned claims
  • Explains coverage to insureds and experts
  • Performs re-inspection of property files and participates as an adjuster, supervisor or a re-inspector during catastrophic claims operations
  • Assists in the training of other staff by answering questions on coverage, procedure and repairtechniques
  • Identifies and investigates suspicious claims

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Eight years of claims adjusting experience
  • Insurance designations preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Superior knowledge of best property claims practices
  • Advanced knowledge of the claim function coupled with analytical ability and demonstrated experience of good judgment with liability and coverage
  • Excellent knowledge of insurance contracts, medical terminology and legal aspects of court procedures affecting legal liability for all lines of insurance
  • Ability to provide superior claims service
  • Excellent knowledge of computers and claims systems
  • Exceptional organizational and written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Thorough investigative and problem-solving abilities
  • Occasional travel required; a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if traveling

Per the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the hiring range for this position for Colorado-based team members is $90,201.12 - $115,826.23. The hiring range for other locations may vary.
