As anEnvironmental Specialistyou will provide leadership, direction and training that will ensure a safe and healthful workplace for the PPG associates while ensuring compliance with applicable environmental, safety and health laws and regulations to minimize current and future liabilities. Close interaction with all levels of the manufacturing, corporate EHS, technical and engineering organizations is required to ensure a consistent and unified EHS message.
You will report to the Regional Environmental Manager and you will be based at our Cleveland, Ohio facility.
Key Responsibilities
Ensuring compliance with Federal, State, Local and PPG environmental regulations and policies.
Reapplying, maintaining and ensuring compliance with a Title V and multiple smaller air permits, managing water permits (Industrial and Stormwater), Waste Management Program (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal) for both Large and Small Quantity Generator(s).
Developing and maintaining emergency response and contingency plans.
Compliance with ISO14001 requirements; EPCRA Reporting (SARA 312 and SARA 313) and, driving continuous improvement of the environmental management process.
Actively participate in our facilities Emergency Response Teams (ERT).
Develop leading indicators that drive continuous improvement in sustainability metrics (energy, water, waste) and spill incidents.
Qualifications
B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field required.
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Must possess the ability to make independent contributions, provide leadership and organizational ability, motivate change, possess good problem solving skills and effectively communicate at all levels.
Must have a broad understanding of environmental, health and safety rules and regulations.
Ability to collaborate with at all levels of the organization.
