Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Systems Analyst will support of mission-critical research activities on the HPC systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Monitor HPC system performance and fine-tune as necessary,
  • Review and establish workflow/scheduler policies on HPC systems,
  • Collect utilization and throughput data for HPC jobs,
  • Configure HPC systems using consistent and repeatable processes,
  • Install and configure software on HPC systems,
  • Collaborate with users to tune HPC jobs for optimal performance,
  • Resolve user issues received via the HPC Help Desk,
  • Perform testing on HPC systems to ensure system functionality, and
  • Document processes and configurations as necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with scheduler/workload manager (Portable Batch System (PBS), Simple Linux Utility for Resource Management (SLURM), or IBM Platform Load Sharing Facility (LSF)).
  • Expertise in Linux operating system.
  • High Performance Computing/cluster management experience.
  • Preferred experience in various HPC systems, various HPC technologies:
    • Cray/Cray EX, IBM, SGI, Penguin, or custom architectures
    • InfiniBand (IB), Intel Omni-Path interconnects
    • Intel Xeon, AMD EPYC, or ARM CPUs
    • Nvidia graphic processing units (GPU)s
  • ITIL Foundation
  • A current, active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance is required.



ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Strong problem-solving skills; capable of analyzing and resolving hardware and operating system problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications with all levels of management for planning and organizing site management projects.
  • Strong detail-oriented skills; able to multi-task and change priorities quickly.
  • Able to meet precise standards.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to work designated schedule, as well as maintain attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to maintain a top-secret/SCI/SAP security clearance.
