Job Description

Scope of Position

The Clinical Engineering department is responsible for assuring that the patient care instrumentation used within the Medical Center is safe and effective. This involves all aspects of medical equipment asset management including systems planning, pre-purchase assessment, acquisition, installation, functional verification, incorporation into the clinical environment, routine maintenance, corrective maintenance and scheduled updates as appropriate. The Clinical Engineering department works closely with clinicians to identify and address issues involving medical systems applications. The Clinical Engineering staff works closely with hospital administration, finance and procurement to achieve the best value for medical equipment, while coordinating with Facilities Services and Information Technology to insure systems compatibility.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Radiology Equipment Specialist is responsible for engineering, installation, configuration, maintenance and support of several modalities of complex imaging systems to insure stability, reliability and acceptable performance. The Radiology Equipment Specialist provides functional and empirical analysis related to planning, design, installation and implementation of imaging systems infrastructure. Plans and performs upgrades to the imaging equipment and systems which may include MRI, CT, PET, FLUORO, mammography, digital X-ray, portable X-ray and fluoro, and ultrasound imaging technologies and systems in accordance with manufacturers specifications and Clinical Engineering procedures. The Radiology Equipment Specialist collaborates on imaging systems projects that range from medium to large in scope, risk and impact. Assists with strategic projects involved in evaluating and researching new and existing products, procedures and/or workflows needs associated with all imaging modalities for the Medical Center. Researches current and developing technologies to provide technical guidance pertaining to the capabilities, limitations and requirements of high technology imaging systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 2 years of relevant experience required.
