In support of the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP), Lockheed Martin IS&GS-Defense will provide systems administration, computer operations and management, systems integration, applications and user support, and data visualization services for each of the four DoD Major Shared Resource Centers.
The sites include the Navy Oceanographic Office at Stennis Space Center, Miss.; U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, Miss., Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio and Army Research Laboratory at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. Responsible to the Deputy Under Secretary for Defense for Science and Technology, the HPCMP serves the DoD Research and Development and Simulation and Test communities by providing supercomputer services, high-speed network communications and computational science expertise.
Administers systems located at the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) DoD Shared Resource Center (DSRC)located on Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. Responsibilities will range from desktop workstations through infrastructure systems (web servers, database application servers, DNS, etc.) May involve evening responsibilities include maintaining an operational system according to documented procedures,conducting daily tasks to ensure proper operation of the system: reviewing, updating, correcting operator procedures; recommending improvements to the operation of the system or to the system itself. Will also provide support to team lead in investigating new technologies and taking the lead in any special projects as assigned. Successful candidate must be accurate, efficient, dependable, able to work with minimal supervision, customer service oriented, willing to commit to completing assigned tasks on time according to a project schedule, able to learn new skills and demonstrate ability to assist others, strongly analytical, able to adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced, multitasking, production-oriented environment, able to obtain a security clearance. Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining Unix/Linux servers, in support of business processing requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to SuSe/Linux operating systems and layered software packages and maintains them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance. Ensures Linux server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
| Unix/Linux system administration experience, SuSe emphasis preferred Red Hat. Bachelor's degree in IT-related field or equivalent experience.|
Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Security+ Continuing Education Certification and correct Computing Environment Certification required within 6 months of start
|Unix/Linux administration experience preferred.|
